They're on the screen, turning my pupils into heart-shaped flames. Two men in black dressed like warlocks. If they were a drug, they would be a starry black liquid in a syringe. Like injecting the night sky. I've given my soul away to amphetamines and cold winter snowdrifts. When they're not on the screen, when I'm not in my house, I fall unto hyacinth hillsides with their images preserved in my memory. Outside, in the polluted wilderness of the inner city, I pretend they are with me wherever I go.
