Canmore Sunrise by Steven Bulman Via Flickr: I decided to take an early morning trip to Banff to view Mt Rundell. On the way, I altered my sunrise destination and instead stopped in Canmore to catch the morning colors in the mountains. This shot was a little disturbing because I could hear a pack of wolves howling in the distance while I stood on the side of the road, like a side of beef. One shot and quickly into the safety of the car as I drove off to Banff.

Evening Shadow por Steven Bulman Via Flickr: After I had pretty much packed up to leave, I noticed this shadow. I had already put my gear into my backpack and tripod into its carrying case. Up the hill I climbed from the river valley back up to the highway above. Looking back, the shadow of the other mountain was showing on the mountain across the river. The light left a golden hue on the mountain along with the river below. The shadow of course appeared very blue in color complimenting the other warmer colors left by the setting sun. So, once again out came the equipment for a quick setup and a single shot. After this I had to beetle on back since it was time to help prepare dinner. Explore #75

Invite by Steven Bulman Via Flickr: I stood by a fence to take this shot, using one of the posts as my tripod. It was a very remote area so there was little traffic, only 3 vehicles in the time it took to compose and capture the image. When it comes to working on a scene, I prefer it when there are few distractions. It is not always obvious what initially drew my attention, but working a subject eventually reveals what was there all along. In this case the rolling hills and that terrific red in the barn. The foreground bushes frame the structure and the space between them invites the eyes to move in closer.

Day & Night by Steven Bulman Via Flickr: What is the criteria used that decides when the sun is set? My iPhone will tell me the exact time along with the weather channel. In this shot I am standing in what appears to be the beginning of night with the sun setting. The distant hill shines for a few seconds while shadows are flat because the sun is at it's lowest point on the horizon. A hint of blue remains in the sky and I ask myself, "when is the sun truly set?" Explore #58
