i know a girl (overly politically correct white girl) and whenever people make jokes about race (i'm half chinese) i will laugh/agree because i don't mind being able to make a joke out of myself but she will be like "don't say that about yourself... blah blah thats racist." what she doesn't realise is when someone white says it, they're being racist, where as when i say it, it is a coping mechanism to deal with the racism i have had to deal with my whole life. am i in the wrong here?

No. I also don't think It's her place, as a white person, to say anything to you about it especially if you're talking about your own race/ethnicity.
