A 7-bedroom Brookline Victorian for $9.2m

With its Industrial-era architectural elements, mint green paint job, and black shutters, at first glance, 14 Allerton St. looks like a well-restored residence from the 19th century. 

But the Brookline home is much younger than it appears: The original building was gutted and rebuilt to include nearly 3,000 square feet of additional space. It measures a total of 7,450 square feet on half an acre and hit the market for $9,195,000 on Jan. 17. It had been listed for $12,888,888 as a new-build in 2019, but at the time: “That price included many upgrades like a snow-melt system, new driveway, furniture … This lower price does not include those upgrades,” owner Chris Wilmott said. He and his wife, Lisandra, a broker, are the listing agents. 

The 22-room mansion includes seven bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms across four levels. There are 65 windows throughout the home, and ceiling heights soar to 10 feet-plus. The property is also equipped with high-tech features, including a Tesla charging station, radiant-heat flooring in every room, and 11 security cameras. 

The first floor includes a foyer, a formal living room with a coffered ceiling and fireplace, and a formal dining room with a cove ceiling and board-and-batten wainscot. A casual dining area connects the bright-white kitchen with a sitting area and the sunken great room. If you enter through the back door, you go through a mudroom with a half bath. 

Most of the second level belongs to the owner suite. The home’s new owners will be able to cozy up by the fireplace in the bedroom and have plenty of space to pick out what to wear in the dressing room. Both spaces have pocket doors leading to the en-suite bathroom, which includes dual vanities, a soaking tub, and access to a 25-by-21-foot private deck. On the other side of the floor, there’s another bedroom with its own fireplace, en-suite bathroom, and two closets, one of which is a walk-in. The floor also offers a laundry room.

The third level houses three bedrooms, some of which feature walk-in closets or built-ins, and another washer and dryer. 

There’s yet another laundry room — the biggest in the home — on the finished lower level, which also houses a gym, two more bedrooms, and an office.

The landscaped grounds are studded with more than 100 trees and feature custom stonewalls and walkways. The patio boasts a built-in grill and under-mount lighting.
