POV: You are Jasper. You are meeting your newest charge, (and future wife) for the first time. Her beautiful smile drops for just a second as she meets your gaze. She is doing her Level Best not to melt into a blushing puddle.
This beautiful commission of my main MC for Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem by @azalynestudios, Yasmin, was done for me by RaineSeryn on deviantart. So happy I finally got all the legendary endings and Jasper's epilogues (AND all three friendship epilogues at the same time) all for the first time earlier this week!! Receiving this finished piece today is the cherry on top~ 💖

i may be late to this fandom but i got so into this game it’s embarrassing, the sheltered princess is one of my favorite backstories and elizabeth, while having the worst stats, may just be one of my favorite mc’s
Thanks to @leahazel for the inspo (I'm reading through past weeks on the @fyeah7kpp blog since there's no Week planned for this year. And because I love learning about everyone's MCs.) because they posted a genealogy tree for a few of their MCs which gave me the idea to do some for mine!!
So I bring you, Yasmin's simplified family tree and explanations under the cut.
Trigger Warning for non-graphic mentions of war, murder, and mutilation below.
Yasmin has several notable, even famous ancestors on her family tree, but perhaps the most important to her personally aside from her mother - is the family's patriarch listed at the very top.
Faysal Al Munir - He lived somewhere within the mid-to-late triple digit years of the universal timeline of the Seven Kingdoms. Faysal was a prince of one of the many tribes of pre-colonial Corval; and was one of the most prominent leaders of the resistance against the Revairian invasion. It is argued amongst historians that he was the most instrumental force behind the unification of the tribes against their common enemy.
As for why he's so important to Yasmin and her story specifically, since I plan to write a fic for her eventually, I won't completely give it away here but there is something that I will say that is a pretty big hint as to why.
The General of Revaire at the time capture him and many of the other leaders of The Resistance at once and executes them. But before it's Faysal's turn on the block, legend says that Faysal was so beautiful, charismatic, and persuasive that the General ordered for his eyes and tongue to be removed; because he was scared that the rumours surrounding him were true. So the general was not going to take any chances that he (Faysal) would be able to talk his way out of his and his comrades' execution, and charm the Revairian soldiers into letting them all escape. (Yes, unfortunately he was not taking any chances with a "flimsy" blindfold and gag.)
Now, with that in mind, as well as the optimal build for the Corval Lady, and the presence of magic in the world (how would Vail Isle be able to vanish from the rest of the world otherwise if it didn't?) And let you ponder that.
Firas and Sanaa Al Munir - Faysal's twin children. Twins run in Yasmin's maternal family to a supernatural degree, and these two are the first instance of them. The tribes of Corval fall completely to Revaire during their adulthood. Sanaa and her husband and daughter are killed in one of the final skirmishes, though at least Firas's wife and children are able to escape harm.
Nadir and Nadra Al Munir - Firas and Nuray's twins. They lived hard lives under Revaire's occupation but they had families of their own. And while Nadra's line continued for generations it eventually died out, while Nadir's continued.
Adil and Aisha Al Munir - Another set of Al Munir twins, part of the generation that won Independence from Revaire and established the Empire of Corval. Adil's wife Nasrin is the daughter of Corval's first Emperor; and Aisha marries the only good prince of Revaire, that then became King of Revaire, and the patriarch of Sayra's line. (Why didn't another Corvali princess marry that prince of Revaire instead? The Emperor was like hell nah we're not going to be associated with that family, hey you - loyal vassal family - you take care of it.)
Layth Al Munir - Layth is Yasmin's great-grandfather, and part of Katyia's generation. He was already married to his wife Lale by the time the very first Summit took place, so he didn't participate.
Ismail Al Munir - Yasmin's grandfather; he married his wife Najma between summits after declining to attend the first one he was eligible for, because he knew he wanted to marry her.
Zahra Al Nasir - Yasmin's mother, and the younger twin sister of Uzair. Her marriage to Yasmin's father Rahim (the middle child of his family) was not a union of the heart - and never would be, though they were good friends and allies. (Zahra was still in love with her pirate sweetheart who died under mysterious circumstances - that's all I'm saying for now - and I'm undecided if Rahim is gay or if he's aroace, but he wanted a child either way.)
Uzair Al Munir - Yasmin's maternal uncle and the current head of the Al Munir family and lands. (The city-state that Faysal ruled was called al-Mamlakah al-Fajriyah "The Kingdom of Dawn", but in modern times has now been shortened to al-Fajr "The City of Dawn".) He is Zahra's older twin brother and Yasmin's surrogate father figure.

Important Relations:
Prince Zarad - Someone she’s long been curious of, and realizes quickly that interest is reciprocated. Immensely grateful for his help, even while she maintains that he’s ridiculous (affectionate). They have great fun when they’re together. A great friend and ally.
Hamin - She finds him to be a very refreshing personality, not being used to this kind of innocent mischeviousness or devil-may-care attitude.
Duke Lyon - Also finds Lyon to be a very refreshing personality because of his blunt and honest nature. He always says what he means - there is no second guessing his intentions, no innuendo or double meanings. It sets her off kilter at first before she adjusts to him, but not in a bad way. She admires his integrity and his insatiable need for learning, and how it fuels his belief that things can always be better. Secretly harbours a desire to brush his hair. (Alas for her, that’s a privilege reserved only for Grace.) A great friend.
Earl Emmett - Privately thinks he’s adorable. And little brother material, though never treats him that way because she can see that he has at least a small crush on her. At least while they’re at the summit together though he gets over it. (Yay Jienne, she’s much better for him anyway!) She loves hearing stories about his travels, because as much as she says that the ladies of the Inner Court aren’t actually locked in…she’s never been outside of Corval until The Summit. A good friend.
Lord Clarmont - Here we go again, at least, if Jasper’s romance route didn’t exist. Though even if it didn’t, I’d probably write fic to make one and still have him be Yasmin’s canon romance anyway. It seems she has a soft spot for charming rebels. They get on very well and she wishes him all the happiness he deserves and more. A great friend.
Prince Jarrod - Honestly wants to strangle him at least 80% of the time because of his horrible personality. She does a remarkable job at hiding it though, especially at the Matchmaker’s Breakfast when he pretty much said that she’s so beautiful it’s indecent. Less wants to be friends with him, and more just wants to not be enemies, which she succeeds at.
Prince Lisle - Ready to fight him for joint custody of Penelope (and is only mostly joking.) She also respects him immensely for his resolve to put aside any desire he might have for a secret relationship, and for also not putting the burden of an heir on Penelope’s shoulders. Neither decision is one that Yasmin would be sure to make, were she in his position. A good friend.
Princess Anaele - Only the most dense could miss her instant infatuation, but it will not be used maliciously. A good friend.
Princess Penelope - Must Protect at ALL COSTS!!! Too good and kind for what most people deserve, but exactly what the world needs. Looks on her like a younger sister. A great friend.
Princess Cordelia - Easy to read, in need of at least one true friend that she can let her hair down with. A great friend.
Lady Avalie - An adept player, and the sort of lady that may on the surface seem common back in The Inner Court. In fact, she is more. And is kinder than she gives herself credit for. (If nudged in the right direction with sufficient cause and nurturing.) A great friend and ally.
Ria - Another sweetheart she must protect at all costs - too good for this world, too pure. She is stronger than she gives herself credit for, and will be able to handle herself with nurturing. A great friend.
Sayra - Game Recognizes Game. The game says it best, whoever matches servants to delegates truly does an interesting job. They are both very gallant, and grow into an excellent friend for the other. Yasmin is curious about her from the start.
Jasper - Her mysterious, capable, dashing, and gorgeous butler…at least that's all it is at first. Yasmin never thought she could fall in love again, and yet, it is in him that she finds her true soulmate.
Kade - I won’t know for sure until his route comes out, but for now I feel like by the end of the summit Kade will respect and loathe Yasmin in equal measure. Is he the one who lets the Evil Weaver Assassin onto the Isle to kill her? I also get the strong feeling that he’s a Weaver himself - his “twisted loyalties” as Jasper puts it. I also have a headcanon that he watches Jasper and Yasmin’s wedding from afar out of an extremely rare bout of nostalgia for his past friendship with Jasper. As the years go by, and the more she helps maintain peace between the seven kingdoms, will those feelings change?

Notable Deeds and Key Decisions: Yasmin, even before the Summit, has garnered a reputation as a creative hostess; a patroness of the arts; and as a stalwart advocate for the commonfolk.
She successfully befriended Princess Constance after she arrived in Corval to wed Prince Aamir, and was (mostly) able to keep her safe.
Two years before the start of her summit she sang an aria from a well known opera that was a plea from the heroine on behalf of her beloved to spare him from death; and convince the king and court of his innocence - on behalf of her own beloved to stall for time in an attempt to save them from execution. She earned the nickname ‘The Songbird of Corval’ for her beautiful and heartbreaking rendition, as well as being fairly well known for her voice beforehand.
To win her spot on Corval’s Delegation despite the scandal from two years earlier, Yasmin invented the wrist watch (with the expertise of a notable clockmaker) OR the typewriter with the help of a mechanical engineer with plenty of experience building printing presses and parts. Either way, she started the process three years before her summit.
She hosted a masterful musicale during the first week of the summit, and was able to successfully secure Duke Lyon’s attendance.
Her self-introduction was perfect.
Yasmin was saved from dying during the group ride by Prince Zarad and Prince Hamin in the second week.
Her team won the boat race across the lake because she successfully recruited Prince Hamin, Duke Lyon, Princess Penelope, and Princess Cordelia.
During her second interview, Yasmin was able to greatly impress the Matchmaker and got her to voluntarily admit that she was wrong with her first assessment.
She hosted a perfect midnight picnic during the third week of the summit, and was able to successfully secure Duke Lyon and Princess Cordelia’s attendance.
By the end of her third interview with the Matchmaker, Yasmin found out that she was able to win the affections of eight people (Emmett, Ana, Hamin, Zarad, Clarmont, Lyon, Ria and Jarrod [though the word “affections” is loosely meant with him]); and arouse the interest of a ninth (Jasper).
At the end of the fourth week, Yasmin won Imogen a perfect acquittal from the jury by conducting a successful investigation (with the help of Jasper, Kade, Prince Zarad and Duke Lyon.)
By the end of her fifth week on the Isle, Yasmin saved herself from the second attempt on her life with her strong insight and intuition; she also participated in a successful (for how impromptu it was) performance of the play Charades acting as the sweet, romantic Serah. (Not a perfect performance, however, because she doesn’t have a romantic relationship with Clarmont, or a friendly relationship with Gisette. But as good as it can be without.)
As the sixth week of the summit progressed, Lady Yasmin was saved from the third and final assassination attempt by Lady Avalie, Princess Anaele, Princess Penelope, and Princess Cordelia. She also successfully planned and hosted a perfect ball; became the belle of it; and worked to persuade all seven ambassadors, the delegates, and chaperones alike to work towards peace. Yasmin shared the final dance with Jasper underneath the stars.
On the eve of the final day of negotiations, Jasper finally confessed his feelings to Yasmin properly, and asked her to stay on the Isle to be with him forever - which she happily accepted.
As a result of the negotiations that took place in the final week of the summit, Lady Yasmin was able to accomplish what no one had since Katyia - secure a lasting, Legendary Peace for all seven nations.
After The Summit ended, Ria left with Yasmin to visit Corval after agreeing to become her Lady’s Maid, in order to maintain their friendship permanently. Lady Yasmin returned home to unnuanced, undisguised, and unmitigated praise and gratitude from the entirety of the court for the first time in her life, and the first of anyone in recent memory. Shortly after her return, it was announced to all that (former) Crown Prince Aamir had died of a mysterious illness; and she realized that whether through her own efforts or someone else’s, Aamir had become no one’s problem anymore. She and her mother were finally safe from him, Amal was finally avenged, Princess Constance was finally freed from her abusive marriage, and most importantly - Corval and the rest of the world were saved from a bloodthirsty tyrant. After spending quality time with her mother, extended family, court supporters, and friends from all walks of life; Yasmin attended the weddings of four of her friends - that of Prince Zarad and Lady Avalie, and Prince Lisle and Princess Cordelia. After that, she and Ria sailed to the capital of Revaire to attend Sayra’s coronation. Following the coronation, the two briefly returned to Corval to meet with Lady Zahra; and finally take a ship sent from Vail Isle so Yasmin could reunite with and marry Jasper, and begin their new life together just as she promised.
Trivia:
Yasmin is my main/canon MC.
I was first introduced to the public demo two years after the kickstarter ended so there were things that I wasn’t sure about - namely, if Jasper was getting a romance route for sure. So, if he wasn’t, then I was going to put Yasmin on Clarmont’s route instead.
All of my other MCs (so far) also exist in Yasmin’s universe, though in a lesser capacity (obviously) - but they still all meet and get together with their love interests. Just, after The Summit ends. (Princess Grace x Lyon, Pirate Esmeralda x Zarad, Widow Vanessa? [I go back and forth on her name all the time, hence the question mark.] x Clarmont, Scholar Jienne x Emmett, and Countess Annabelle x Hamin.)
People of Interest, and why they’re interesting (that’s not immediately obvious.); Imperial Princess Sara (First Princess) - she attended the previous Summit along with her eldest brother and Princess Constance, but Sara married into a ducal house in Revaire as a means to spy on the New Royals for her family.
Imperial Princess Safiya (Second Princess) is very close to Yasmin in age (I’m not sure if they’re exactly the same age yet, or if they were born within a year or two of each other.) and is one of Yasmin’s closest friends.
Saeed Naaji - was one of Yasmin’s close childhood friends, and was a servant exiled from Corval (saved from execution by Zahra) for picking a flower from the Empress’s private garden to give to Yasmin At The Wrong Time (The Emperor was courting Sina’s mother. Or they were having their first child together, I need to work on my timeline more.) Luckily he ends up on a ship to Vail Isle, though they only reunite after the summit. They become good friends again, and Yasmin matchmakes him and Ria.)
Noble Amal Al Sayyar - they were Yasmin’s previous fiancé who was executed for treason/being involved in an anti-imperial faction that want to assassinate Aamir, and the reason she earned the nickname ‘The Songbird of Corval’. (Because she sang before the court to buy time for last minute critical evidence to prove their innocence to be delivered, before the verdict went through.)
Faysal Al Munir - one of Yasmin’s maternal ancestors, a prince of Old Corval before it became part of the Revairian Empire, and then the current Empire of Corval. He is a notable figure in mostly lost history, mostly a folk hero now, and is also arguably the most important figure in her family tree. His story helps her to figure out who the natives of the Isle are. AKA my headcanon that may end up not being correct.
Aster Azhar and Lily Lamia are both named for the Stardust Lilies. They use the names Aster and Lily on the isle, and the names Azhar and Lamia outside of it. (Yes they go to Corval with Yasmin to visit their Grandma. Also when she talks about them in letters to people.)
Aster and Lily inherit one of Jasper’s responsibilities each once they’re old enough and Jasper can step down. One as Leader and Servant, and the other as Historian and Servant (and are able to help each other lessen the burdens Jasper carries on his own as an only child with presumably no cousin or any other family.) I’m not sure who ends up as what, though I’m leaning towards Lily as the next leader, and Aster becoming a Historian.
Yasmin starts The Summit being 22 years old, and her birthday ends up being Fireday of Week Three though no one save Zarad and Jasper knows this until a while after The Summit ends.
As a result of Jasper and Yasmin’s Wedding Ceremony that’s most likely at least partly magical, Yasmin lives to the very old age of 107 and in great health.
I’ll add more facts that aren’t spoilers to the fic I’m going to write as I think of them.
