(Inspired by this and this. Maybe I'm starting a series? Idk, it's late and I'm very tired)

The drunken haze clouds his thoughts as he leans in too close as you talk, stares too long at you, your eyes, your lips.

"Do friends kiss?" He finds himself asking almost in a whisper.

"Do you want to kiss me?" You ask in return, mind not nearly muddled enough to be going along with this, but fuck, if you hadn't been thinking about it too.

He nods, still staring as you close the gap between you, letting you lips just graze his, letting him choose how far to push things.

He falls into you with a near desperation, clinging to you out of fear that this might be the only time he gets to be with you like this.

In the morning, when his heart and head ache in tandem, he'll worry that your friendships ruined. But he'll want to ruin it. He wants to push the boundaries, do and say things with you that friends don't. So when he shows up at your door, out of breath and still in last night's clothes, asking if he can take you out on a date, and you say yes without hesitation, he can almost feel the pieces finally falling into place, and that maybe, this time, things will finally go right.
