While I appreciate the Pidge growth episode because I’m someone who relates to how some depict them, I’m also sad they are probably the only one is to get a distinct time to grow and bond with their associated alien race in this way. Well besides those of other species. It’s mostly been Pidge the last few seasons besides Keith getting to explore Galra/Marmoran side since he IS half and Allura finding out about the colony and all that jazz. And well, I’m kinda not overly thrilled about that. Lance got a bunch of species showing up in single episodes but only so-so growth that can occur with that kind of relationship especially with how he needs to grow. And most of Hunk’s time with the Balmarians is in the first half of the series. He’s since been mostly connecting like Lance where portions of singular episodes are about him learning from the aliens around him, which is great but still not the same. While some are great like the greater understanding of Galra culture, I’m kind of sad about this less frequent personal growth with their “people” unlike what Pidge gets. And don’t get me started on Shiro. I might just need to make more post on just how I feel about Shiro in this show and how the creators treated him (wow, not really a surprise when you remember the fan creators I like/follow).
And I did manage to watch the episode in the time set out. Mostly because it was a medicore episode outside of the Pidge growth and “power” evolution. Everyone get to the sidetracking thing so that Pidge can be alone for their growth. Best thing is the line “so the new give way to the old” for larger story things. But I see so much harm to both Pidge and everyone else’s characters because of how everyone has been treated.
BTW: Not that I managed to finish writing this in that time.
