She knew everyone’s footsteps. The slow, careful steps
from Jonathan to the oddly paced tap of Eddie’s shoes
against the floor. && yet, with Jonathan out of the
Asylum && home for the moment, Isako found no
comfort in her room. She tossed && turned in the bed,
her fingers clutching to the sheets each time she
remembered that those men were there in Gotham. Her
mind was playing tricks on her whenever a sound came
from outside her door. A paranoia that they would find
her there && do to her what they did to her family.
But, Arkham was safe for her, wasn’t it? Jonathan would
never let anything happen to her. From the day she got
the position as a mere intern up until now, she was kept
safe. For a moment, that thought had seemed to calm
her busy mind enough to let her eyes shut. Until
unfamiliar steps sounded from the hallway. They weren’t
Eddie’s. His humming didn’t fill the quiet that hovered
overhead.
❝ ...Eddie? Bo? ❞ Right now, she would have welcomed
either of them to appear. It would have meant a familiar
face to ease her worries. The sound ceased for a mere
moment, allowing only the sound of her own heartbeat
to pound in her eardrums loudly. Then, the click of a gun
echoed, stirring her out of her bed && through the
opposite door. RUN. That was the only thing her mind
seemed to focus on. Running. Her feet wanting to go to
Jonathan’s room, only to realize he wasn’t there.
For once, she felt fear && panic. There was only one
other person that she could trust. One other that she
knew would protect her. ❝ EDDIE!!! EDDIE!!! ❞ Isako
never screamed. She had done so once before, &&
it was to call Jonathan when the variant had grabbed
her throat back at Mount Massive. ❝ EDDIE, HELP! ❞
Her hands pushed the door to his quarters open, not
bothering to knock or show much of a care over what
the man was up to. Isako ran right towards him, her
arms out as she clung to his form frightened &&
shaking. Isako’s hand stretched outward, pointing
toward the door where the man would soon appear.
❝ T-They...-- ❞ She couldn’t force the words out. They
were stuck in her throat. ❝ Killed my ...family, they want
me next... Me next, not me... Not me...? ❞ Her arms
wouldn’t let go of him. She clung to him like a daughter
would to her Father after a terrible nightmare. Though,
that was what Eddie was to her, wasn’t he? A Father.
Someone to run to when there was danger... ❝ Not me...
Don’t let it be me... ❞
