Hear me out, Logan and Oscar or Alex as Eurydice and Orpheus
OHHHH IM ALREADY SO FAR AHEAD OF YOU DONT YOU WORRY, I HAVE MANY MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS
okay so my first and most flushed out thought: logan/eurydice x oscar/orpheus
duh. logan being the one in the underworld makes the most sense to me because you know, he was dropped. he “died” first. so oscar goes down to retrieve him and on the way out, he can’t help but look back at logan. now stay with me here, oscar doing so well in 2025, his first race season in a DECADE without logan, is him leading them out of the underworld. then right after zandvoort where he got his grand slam, THE LAST RACE LOGAN EVER RACED IN F1, oscar metaphorically looks back. in baku, the race directly after zandvoort, oscar begins losing his grip on the wdc. logan doomed himself by crashing in zandvoort and then a year later, after oscar did all that work to “lead them out,” he can’t help but look back, dooming them both. remember, an orpheus that doesn’t look back is an orpheus that never loved eurydice. which is why oscar would look back.
the second thought isn’t as thought out BUT: alex/eurydice x logan/orpheus
this one is more so fixed on “wait for me” from the musical hadestown rather than the myth, specifically donal finn’s orpheus. the pure desperation he put into those lyrics is logan BEGGING alex to wait for him in williams, trying to tell him that he is trying and alex isn’t alone. logan inevitably turns around because he realizes he cannot lead them out of the underworld that is williams f1 team, dooming himself to a f1 career of pain and suffering.
