“O-Oh, hey.” The older female stammered as she smiled softly at the male while trying to balance the heavy grocery bag in her arms, her knees slightly bend as she arched her back forward. Using this opportunity, she tried to reach for the keys in her purse before frowning towards the male, reaching her arms out to him. “This is odd but uh, can you hold this for me? It’s really heavy and I should’ve asked for more bags but…” She let out a deep sigh before shaking her head, a quiet chuckle slipping past her lips afterwards. “I’m just dumb.”
It had taken him some time to find a comfortable spot on the patch of grass. This involved plenty of tossing and turning on his part, as well as following the gradually receding shadow. As a group of younger teens finally surrendered their spot in the middle of the the tree’s relieving cover from the too bright sun, the after image still burning his corneas as he closed his eyes, And it was after he tucked his arms behind his head, snug and peaceful in the tranquil atmosphere the park provided, did he witness the struggling woman. But really, all those bags weighing down her slim wrists was something painful to see, and although he knew that the couple eyeing his favored spot when he wasn’t looking was going to snatch it up the second he stood, he thought he might as well be a good human, even if it were only for a day. As he eased the weight from her, carrying the considerably hefty bags in his hands, he offered her a small smile. “Not dumb...just....too ambitious?” Eyes rolling to the sky as he wondered if he chose the right word. It was as she opened the door did he linger outdoors, before tentatively asking if he were allowed to go in. It’d be rude of him to barge into a stranger’s place, after all.
