Determined to expand the reach of his eponymous ale, Arthur Guinness built a brewery on a four-acre plot of land in Dublin, Ireland, for which he signed a 9,000 year lease on this day in 1759, which coincidentally is how long my hangover lasted the last time I drank Guinness.
