Christina Aguilera, my baby.
I normally don't go on rants here, but here is a mini one.
For all of you people who are like 'Birdman won because depressed people vote for depressed characters and plot' need to rewatch the movie. Look for what they won.
Look at the camera work. Look at the directing. You will see how amazing both were. How the camera constantly moved, never staying still unless a character was confessing something, which was what it was supposed to be. Like the characters life, he was constantly moving until feelings stopped it, like how you feel like time stops when you are super distressed. This movie had well developed and different state of mind characters and symbolism. It was different. It was original. It was one of a kind. The movie had a different feel, it was a movie you often didn't see.
Birdman didn't win because of the depressing state of the main character, it won because the technical work of the movie was amazing, the plot had symbolism, it was something different and original to the constant 'based on books' or sequels to other movie concepts. And the character was not depressed. He was in something like a mid-life crisis where he became washed out and wanted his glory days of being iconic again.
Was it my first choice to win? No. It actually surprised me, but this movie was still worthy of winning Best Picture.
