My 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Review w/ 8bitdo’s Ultimate Software “Ver. 2.0″- Part 15.5 "2nd Attempt" (Recorded Video) [Oct 9, 2021]

Hi, here’s Part 15.5 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad and their (New) “Ultimate Software”.🎮🙂

Now as I before, I'm going to attempt another Macros time for the 2nd time. And I hope I get it right...

So without further ado, let’s get started:

My Experience:

• Okay time to restart my Macros test with the Ultimate Software, and this time I'll create another set of macro profiles for a different game test. And once I've done my setup I'll sync through my controller. Uh yeah, as I learn before, make sure that my profile is turned on by pressing both L3 and R3, (in order) to activate my three macro profiles. Now I'm ready to go to test it out! So, what kind of game that I'm gonna test for my Macros feature? Twisted Metal 4 (on the ePSXe emulator 🚙🔫💥)!

BTW: Once again, it won't register via my 8bitdo gamepad through the Ultimate Software during the Macros process. I'm sure someday it'll update a new version, somehow.

• Alright, I'm now in the game! And as you can see it worked very well, although sometimes it's hard to register from pressing. Except one though, because the infinite ammo on my mapped Star button is a lie; you know, I should've use jump ability instead, but hey at least it works on my two mapped buttons (L3 and R3). Hey, remember what I said about that I failed on my 1st attempt (You know, me playing Vigilante 8 2nd Offense)? Well, I decided to go try, and surprisingly worked! (Plus, I need to turn on my profile config, unlike before.) Well, sort of... Because I need to press both mapped button(s) (L3, R3, or Star) and R2 to activate the special weapon combo (depending on what weapon that I'm using, in the Vigilante 8 franchise). It's weird that I already add the R2 button on my three mapped profiles, but I guess it works. You know, since it's just a macro test for playing Vigilante 8 2nd Offense I think might stick to manual buttons than using the macro button(s) because it's pretty easy to maneuver as well as quick, too. Thanks to 8bitdo SN30 Pro+'s excellent d-pad. Twisted Metal 4 on the other hand, yeah I'm definitely gonna use my macro button because sometimes I felt hard on different stages. Even though I've already done for, but I'll play it someday. After all, it's just a test for showing up, of what macros feature by 8bitdo's Ultimate Software is capable of.

•Speaking of which, I even tried the "queue latency" for macros during my Twisted Metal 4 and I could see the difference. Although I would rather not use it in my future play.

Overall:

• I have to say, my 8bitdo's macros mapping feature is pretty useful than my old iPega 9063 controller's. Because the mapping feature for my old controller is quite confusing, even if I read from the instruction manual (included) and also on Youtube video it didn't help for me. My 8bitdo gamepad (SN30 Pro+) and the Ultimate Software, on the other hand, are far much better. The only problem is the on-the-go portability because I need to change my profile config on the Ultimate Software via PC; well, unless I'm using the Pro 2 controller then the Ultimate Software app on my smartphone (for either iOS and/or Android) then I'm good to go. But sadly I don't have my own Pro 2 controller. And as of today, the 8bitdo's Ultimate Software app is exclusive for Pro 2. Here's hoping that my SN30 Pro+ will support through that app, too.

• Now as far as the macros feature from the 8bitdo's Ultimate Software, I think I've learned a lot, and again it's pretty useful for my selected games, not to mention fighting games on different supported devices for my SN30 Pro+ gamepad. Hey, if my big bro is planning to buy a Nintendo Switch console (whether he chose the normal or the already released OLED variant), as well as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (now that Sora from KH is finally added to the Smash Bros. Universe) I have my secret weapon.

• Another criticism about my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad is the lack of extra buttons for using Macros mapping. There's nothing much room for it, and therefore I need to sacrifice any buttons for what I need. And finally, the aforementioned hard response on mapping buttons; take L3 and R3 for instance, which it didn't receive when I pressed during my gameplay by rapidly pressing either L3 and R3; so it takes some cool time for some. So the only option I have is the single star button, which I have to replace "turbo function" into "macros button" to prevent auto rapidly. That's why I want the Pro 2 controller for extra back buttons; if these buttons are useless, then why mapping it for a great advantage and become a new play experience. Nevertheless, overall, I love using the Macros feature from the 8bitdo's Ultimate Software on my 8bitdo gamepad for my games. Although, if only I have my own Pro 2 gamepad, it'll be so much easier; thus exactly what I'm earning for.

UPDATE QUICK: Unfortunately, I'm having serious trouble with my 8bitdo gamepad during my GTA Online play session.😟 It sometimes keeps opening a window when I combined my right trigger and R3. This is the result of malfunctioning after my Macros map experience test between the Ultimate Software and my gamepad. I'm quite scared so I have to fix this problem; whether I reconnected via Bluetooth, reset it entirely, or update a new firmware from 8bitdo's Firmware Updater.😰 Here's hoping that my malfunction problem will be solved.😟

Hi, here’s Part 15 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad and their (New) “Ultimate Software”.🎮🙂

In today's part, I'm showing you the Macros functional feature from the Ultimate Software to my 8bitdo gamepad (via PC).🎮 🖥 In 1st attempt, that is; you'll see why.

BTW: It's been a month since I haven't continued my 8bitdo gamepad review, with my last recorded is Aug 17th, 2021. So if you haven't seen my Part 14, then please [CLICK ME!].

So without further ado, let’s get started:

My experience:

• Before I attempt my Macros test I've just received an updated version; with the note saying, "Added the button mapping for SELECT (&) START". So I decided to update, anyways. This might not take long though.

• Once it's done, I'm now head over to the Macros feature. So, to refresh your mind; A Macros is a feature where you can mapping the buttons into one single press of a button on your controller. And this is quite helpful yet cheating at the same time during fighting games (e.g. Street Fighter, Tekken, Super Smash Bros., etc...), not to mention for lazy gamers who are tired of manual buttons with their fingers and big thumbs.

• Here I'm struggling on how to use Macros on my game controller. One notable downside for my 8bitdo gamepad is I can't use the controller to press buttons through the Ultimate Software; I have to use my mouse to pick any buttons to map. Man if only 8bitdo developers could allow this feature, but otherwise a perfect worthy 3rd-party controller. Anyways, here is the image of the official screenshot as follows.↓

Green & Blue: Action buttons to map.

Red: Queue latency for macros. (as far as I tested) Set the time on how many seconds/milliseconds before activating the macros button(s) after a single press.

Orange: Creating a new Macros from any selected button(s) (A, B, X, Y, L, R, L2, R2, L3, R3, Star ⭐️, and Heart ♥️).

Yellow: Preview your mapping buttons.

Purple: Add to your preview mapping buttons.

Pink: Accept/undo your preview mapping buttons.

• Once I'm done and figuring out the Macros usage I'm now syncing through my 8bitdo gamepad, (in order) to use my Macros profiles. Here you can see I mapped L3, R3, and Star buttons in their respective map buttons. And what game that I'm gonna test? Vigilant 8 2nd Offense on the ePSXe emulator.🚙🔫💥

• Unfortunately, through my experience is a sort of fail. Because when I pressed my custom macros button(s) during my gameplay it seems it didn't work. And that's why I have to stop recording and I'll be doing my 2nd attempt. But hey, at least I'm learning though, on how to use the Macros feature.

Overall:

•Well, it was a nice try for me. So a 2nd attempt is a must.😅

My 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Review w/ 8bitdo’s Ultimate Software “Ver. 2.0″ - Part 11 (Recorded Video using VLC Media Player) [May 11, 2021]

Hello! Did you miss me reviewing my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad? Yeah, me too. But nonetheless, here’s the Part 11 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad and their (New) “Ultimate Software”.🎮🙂

Now I’ve been waiting THIS for a long long LONG time now. And in this part, I’m taking a look through of their “Ultimate Software” for my recent use 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad and see if it’s useful.😊

BTW: But before I get in to my experience, I just want to say two things:

#1: About their new and recent 8bitdo gamepad and it looks pretty cool 😮, albeit in a same shape as my SN30 Pro+ gamepad; and unlike the SN30 Pro+ gamepad, the new one has few features which I won’t get in to details.😉 But I will give you the name though for their new 8bitdo gamepad, and it’s...”Pro 2″ gamepad! Yup, a simple name for their new 8bitdo gamepad. Hopefully I will get it on my own very very soon. So if you want to see it for yourself then please [CLICK ME!].🙂

#2: This is my second time recorded video via my computer desktop using VLC media player. The first one I did before is my XP-Pen Pentablet installation for my Deco 01 V2 🖥️📝🖊️, which is still ongoing so I haven’t do anything yet. Don’t worry though I’ll get to that very soon. (And) #3: You may notice my mouse cursor is invisible during my recording VLC. Hopefully I have to tweak the settings, so you can see my cursor.😅

So without further ado, let’s get started:

My Experience: • First off, I went to 8bitdo support website in order to get the “Ultimate Software”, there, they’re different 8bitdo item(s)/controller(s) to choose from; so picked the SN30 Pro+ gamepad because I own it. Once that, I download the “Ultimate Software” on the specific PC OS I chose (Windows 10).🖥️🖱️🙂

Fact #1: Back then, the 8bitdo’s “Ultimate Software” is solely exclusive to SN30 Pro+ gamepad. But in the beginning of 2021, the company decided to expand the controller compatibles for their software, these include the SN30 Pro for Android’s Xbox Cloud Gaming (the original SN30 Pro doesn’t support), USB Wireless Adapters (the inspired brick themes [brown & gray colors]), the NEW 8bitdo Arcade Stick 2020 ver. (the old ones doesn’t support) and of course their new recent gamepad the “Pro 2″ 🎮🕹️📶😃. Uh yeah, did I mention that there’s also a mobile app version of that? Yup it is also now available 📲🎮 (on either Android google store 🤖and iOS Apple app Store🍎), BUT it’s exclusively to “Pro 2″ gamepad users. Hopefully in the update future, it will compatible with other controller(s) as well (which I mentioned before). I’m not so sure it’ll support the USB wireless adapter(s) for the “Ultimate Software” mobile app, but only time will tell if that happen. That mobile app is just getting started, after all.

•Anyways, once I download the software I could now extract (using winrar), go through numerous folders (just two) and click the “Ultimate Software” application. My SN30 Pro+ gamepad is already set up with my included USB type C cable from the box (no not my Essager, the 8bitdo brand), so now I’m ready to plugging in on my PC.🖥️🎮🖱️🙂  But before I enter the menu, I just received a new update firmware for my recent 8bitdo gamepad, so I go ahead by click the update button to improve. Don’t worry it won’t take long (,at least it didn’t reach over 5 minutes during my recording). And once it’s done updating the firmware my 8bitdo gamepad is automatically reconnect.🔄

•Now there are three different platforms to choose; Windows, Switch (Nintendo Switch) and Android. Since I played PC Games using my recent 8bitdo gamepad than anything else, I choose Windows. And once I pick the specific platform, I’m now finally enter the “Ultimate Software” setting.🙂

Fact #2: The original 8bitdo’s “Ultimate Software” is white and gray background colors (not mention purple/violet), as seen in their official youtube channel [CLICK ME!]. But now, thanks for the expanded compatible controller(s) and adapter(s) the company change the color to graphite like black and gray and dark green blue selection for a better  different look. I guess you may called it “Ultimate Software ver. 2.0″. Hmmm, that’s sound pretty awesome!😊

Anyway...

•Here, there are different types of settings to suit my taste in the new version of 8bitdo’s Ultimate Software, depending what selected controller(s) that I’m using. And instance, I have five settings to see it through on my SN30 Pro+ gamepad. For my 8bitdo USB Wireless Adapter / Retro Receiver on the other hand is a whole different setting level, so I hopefully I will tackle that someday, we shall see.🤔

• Here are the ff. settings of 8bitdo’s “Ultimate Software ver. 2.0″ for my SN30 Pro+ Gamepad:

○ Mapping: In mapping, I can swap/edit any buttons per each command, however I want. Examples are here from my screenshots, which I forgot to click it during my recording via VLC media player.↓🖼️🖼️

• Here I can change my Star ⭐and Heart ❤️ (8bitdo logo) button(s) to different command(s). Although once I change their button commands so does the button(s) that represents.

BTW #4: The start (-) and select (+) buttons are not mappable.❌

○ Sticks: Next are the sticks, more specifically “Analog Sticks”. These can adjust the dead zones on each analog sticks between active and inactive area. It can also customize as well such as invert, swapping left and right analog sticks (which is quite confusing) and even swap the d-pad to left analog stick for a asymmetrical, kind a like doing a wannabe layout although I’m not so sure that I will tested out with my SN30 Pro+ gamepad, because this could be very weird, in my opinion 🤨 (unlike Sputnik dressing Halley’s clothes from Astroblast, which she’s SO adorable to this day X3,so just saying).

○ Triggers: Next are the triggers or rather “analog triggers”. Like their analog sticks, the analog triggers can also adjust the response on each trigger buttons between active and inactive area. Not to mention it can swap triggers between left and right, and once again it will be quite confusing... In my opinion at least.🤨

○ Vibration: In vibration, I can adjust the rumble on each side from low to high. And yes I can feel it between two rumbles when I adjusting. You know, throughout my playing game decades I’ve been experience on rumbling on different gen console’s controller(s) since debut in 2000 when we have our own Sony PSone slim console to this day on the PS4 Pro console (I’m inactive now) and of course in PC gaming. So why not turning off their rumble, just for the sake of my hands. Uh yeah I almost forgot... 

BTW #5: Do you remember what I said in “Part 10.5″ [CLICK ME!], when I encountered a malfunction Right Analog Trigger and sometimes my Left Analog Stick during in all sorts of races in GTA V Online playthrough? Well I have another criticism floss when I’m using SN30 Pro+ gamepad, and that’s the “endless vibration”😣. During either local or solo session race on the same PC game I played, I’m attempting a curb boost on the straight line, and once I’m end of the straight road the rumble from my 8bitdo gamepad doesn’t stop, it’s just keep on vibrating which sometimes a bit annoying but at least I can handle it for a long time (depending how many lap(s) in the hobby session). And once I reach to the finish line, I immediately reconnect my 8bitdo gamepad to halt a non-stop vibrating, whether in wired mode using my USB cable or in wireless mode. And that’s why I need to shut off their rumble on my 8bitdo gamepad to give my hands a rumble free.😌🤲

○ Macros: Finally we’re come to the last setting, and that is the “Macros” (no not “Macross” (the anime flight mecha), “Macros” without the second “s”). Or I should say the “cheat button” for suited fighting game genre(s) 👊🥊, why? Well because, with just a single button you press it’ll automatically do a special combo moves without doing manually from your fingers, depending what fighter character you choose and what fighting game you’ve playing. So how do you do a single button using macros on the Ultimate Software? Easy, just pick a unoccupied button on the 8bitdo gamepad and copy their fighting character’s command moves, and once you done just click enter. You know, I sometimes like playing fighting games with my friends even though I’m not good at, it might be quite interesting useful when I’m using Macros. Hopefully I’ll discuss the Macros usage soon; who knows, maybe I’ll use Macros to other game genres not just suited for fighting game genres. And yes I’m not gonna use it during online fighting game tournament(s), that’s a form of cheating (not to mention I’m not planing to become Esport fighting player, but rather a Esport player racer like joining Gran Turismo).

BTW #6: I try to messing around with the macros for the purpose of my walkthrough, well a bit. I want to reset my macros configure by switching another setting but it didn’t work. *Mmph*🤷

• And that includes of the five settings of my SN30 Pro+ Gamepad on 8bitdo’s “Ultimate Software ver. 2.0″. Once I adjust the vibration, I could now save my profile by adding a existing. I typed in the profile name “My 1st profile” and the profile description indicates “Vibration off”, and then I click “create”. Now there’s a reminder that I need to follow in order to use my current profile, and if I want to turn on/off my current profile configure I could press both LS and LR on the analog buttons at the same time. So that’s a plus for me. Once I’m done at the “Ultimate Software” I close the window and start playing.

Aftermath: • My Ultimate Software profile for my 8bitdo gamepad really work! I’m all rumble free from my holding hands on the gamepad during my play session across different game emulators and even my recent GTA V Online. This is great!😁 (Well for now...)

Overall: • The “Ultimate Software ver. 2.0″ for 8bitdo is a great feature for my recent SN30 Pro+ Gamepad. And not just for SN30 Pro+ gamepad, but also selected gamepad(s), arcade stick (2020 ver.) and even wireless adapter(s) (brick themes) that I mentioned are now join the "Ultimate Software” bandwagon for a array of tweak/adjust settings to our hearts content. Kudos to the company itself for making our 8bitdo controller(s) MORE useful! So now problems are completely solved! And couldn’t done without update firmware and of course the 8bitdo’s Ultimate Software.🎮😁👍

*Phew* 😮‍💨Geez I made another long lecture of this ongoing topic! Now I’m not sure, if I end of this topic very soon. Because there are a lot of things to talk about, so yeah.

So without further ado, let’s get started:

My Story: • Yesterday, while I’m playing my usual PC Game - Grand Theft Auto V Online I notice something, when I try to use the right analog stick on my right thumb, the stick itself is suddenly move when I let go with my right thumb (both in wired and wireless mode). Making it a circling around the camera, thus the “joystick drift” problem. In my experience of my gaming using the controller, I haven’t encounter this malfunction before until now; and I’m so worried.😟I tried to re-plugged in wired with my included USB type C cable or turning off my controller and reconnect via bluetooth and the results are the same. So the only thing solution now is to update my 8bitdo controller’s firmware with “8bitdo Firmware Updater” (Please [CLICK ME!] to know how). Once I open the updater, the company just receive their latest update for my SN30 Pro+ controller, here you can see the description from my screenshot.↓

• So yeah I go ahead update it from v5.00 to v5.01, which I already did. Now the question is, will it fix my right analog stick’s joystick drift? Well the answer is on my recorded video.🎦

• On my first test using gamepad tester website [CLICK ME!], the right joystick’s malfunction is still there. But when I open the 8bitdo’s ultimate software it had a little bit drift. Well sort of.😕 Here take a look of my screenshot.↓

• I try to use my manual air blower tool through inside of the right joystick without disassemble from my controller; probably because there are few dusts inside that need to be remove, but the malfunction remains.😔

Aftermath: •After doing some troubleshoot problems with my 8bitdo gamepad’s right joystick, it suddenly... Or in this case, miraculously working well now!😮 When I played GTA V online and a little bit test play in GTA San Andreas, I’m utterly surprise and relief 😮‍💨that the right analog stick is now cured from joystick drift! I guess the micro dusts was the culprit after all (thank goodness I have a air blower tool), and thanks with 8bitdo SN30 Pro+’s recent firmware update v5.01 that indicates “Optimized the accuracy of the joystick”; I can play again without floss whatsoever, particularly the right joystick. When I go back to Gamepad Tester once more as well as the 8bitdo’s Ultimate Software, it seems to be very fine now compare to hours ago during my recording video. Furthermore, the drift unquestionably remains but it still centered. I just don’t why...🤨 Here take a look of my screenshot.↓

• Weird huh... But at least it finally solved my problem.

Overall: • I’m having a mixed feelings. At first glance, I’m a little worried 😟 between from yesterday and now, because my recent 8bitdo gamepad will soon to be useless. But hours later after I tackle the joystick drift on the right side, I’m now completely relief and solve the problem 😮‍💨 with firmware update and a manually remove micro dust with a air blower tool. BUT only time will tell if my 8bitdo gamepad continues to be a well function controller in the lifespan before I buy/order a new one in the form of “Pro 2″ controller (the predecessor of the SN30 Pro+) .🎮 I the meantime, my problem is solved (for now) and I’m very happy to play again with my SN30 Pro+ gamepad.🙂

BTW: As for my Skull & Co. review for my 8bitdo gamepad, I’ll get to that very soon. I’m still using the “Skin Grip” rubber caps though.😉

My 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Review - Part 12.5 (Recorded Video) [Jun 3, 2021]

Hi, here’s my Part 12.5 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad.🎮🙂

*But before that, I want YOU… Yes you, which you’re reading my description. I want you to watch my recorded video first 📹📲 (as a observation) before you read the rest of my reaction experience. Hope you’re watching…

So without further ado, let’s get started:

My Experience: • As I said before, here’s my aftermath from troubleshooting the joystick drift on right analog stick by updating the latest firmware from v5.0 to v5.01 with 8bitdo firmware updater and a little clean with my manual air blower tool to remove micro dusts from inside of my 8bitdo gamepad. I decided to testing out with my gamepad-tester website [CLICK ME!] and 8bitdo Ultimate Software.🎮🖥️

• And as you can see on the gamepad-tester website, my right analog stick is perfectly fine albeit in a awkward drift line; but at least it doesn’t affect or rather not respond on the drift analog stick, so that’s good.👍 I even tested my left analog stick for a comparison. Wireless mode test seems also fine as well. 8bitdo Ultimate Software on the other hand is perfectly fine without seeing a drift line dead zone.🙂

• I’d just notice during my initial test on the gamepad-tester website, that there is a little bit issue on the right analog stick when I go super slow the numbers seems different or not yet centered, but it didn’t effect during my PC gameplay. So here’s hoping that the firmware update v5.01 that I download will totally solve my problem.
