Here we have Joshua B. @Joshuab1986 with his 2009 Honda Civic Si Coupe. He has been in love with cars since he was a little kid. How most true race car drivers start, with a go-kart at a young age. He has pursued his dream and not given up at anytime to make it to where he is today.
We would like to thank Joshua for taking the time to sit with us and give us an inside into his past and car. We expect big things this year and in the following years from him in the autocross circuit. If you want see a glimpse of what Joshua does make sure to see the video at the bottom of the page.
Here are a few questions Joshua answered for us.
When was it that you decided you wanted to modify cars?
When I was a kid, my brother and I started tweaking my first go-kart from a measly 15mph top speed to a respectable 55mph :) From there I worked summer months in my Dad’s auto shop learning everything I could.
What made you get your current vehicle?
Honestly, Curiosity. I didn’t go in planning to get an 8th Generation Honda Civic SI at ALL. If you would have asked me then, I would have said the car was under powered and lacking too much by just judging the specs alone. After a test drive I was immediately impressed. The first thought was how they got that kind of power response out of a 4cyl.
What mods have you done to your vehicle?
Custom 3.5 inch cold air intake, J35 throttle body, RRC intake manifold, PLM race header, pulleys, torque mounts, flashpro(tuned by Vit), 24mm rear sway, GodSpeed Mono RS racing coilovers, and GodSpeed rear camber arms. I have a 3 inch race exhaust, but not installed due to sound limits at certain events I attend. Plus…Hondas sound great when the intake side is louder than the exhaust side.
How has modifying your car affected you?
It’s helped push me towards a lifelong dream of mine which is racing cars. I’m only at the start of a long path, but I’ve proven to have some solid driving skills and secured my first 2 sponsors this season. Each mod pushes me a little further as a driver as I push the car to its new limits.
What future mods do you have for your vehicle?
Due to mainly doing autocross this year, I’ll mainly focus on suspension components since I have to be careful not to knock my classing around. Next year…Is a different story; cams, new exhaust, roll cage, weight reduction.
If possible give a description about yourself.
I’m a 27 year old Network Engineer from North AL. I love racing, recording & composing music, working on cars, and most of all spending time with the most important person in my life. Life is good at the moment.
So if you get to see Joshua tearing up that Auto X track be sure to stop by his car and say Hi!!
