It is difficult to imagine what music was like before your time.  Even when that time is over, very few remnants of that period remain relevant in our lives today.  There are some exceptions though.  Every state has a few radio stations dedicated to oldies – and these can be anything dating from the 1920’s until the 1970’s.  Of course, there is a lot of music missing from this era, and the list of songs that qualify as an oldie do not change.  When you get into the 1980’s and on, there are some exceptions here that do not follow the rules. We may hear a lot of rap music from the 90’s and on, but what about the music that was around in that same era?  We hardly hear any sort of electronic music that was once popular in that era – and certain genres seem to be skipped.  For a good while, drum and bass dominated the dance scene; well before hip hop was as popular as it is now.  Many DJ grew up in the drum and bass era, but today that is something of the past in terms of EDM.  For those who want a taste of it, there are a few apps for you. http://djworx.com/friday-fun-junglator-iphone/
