9 MAY 2024 || DUCHY OF CORNWALL VISIT - NEWQUAY (1/2) : NANSLEDAN HOUSING PROJECT
The Duke of Cornwall will be carrying engagements in Newquay and the Isles of Scilly as part of a two-day visit to the Duchy. For his first engagement in Newquay, he visited Nansledan, the site where the Duchy of Cornwall's first ever innovative housing project to help address homelessness will be built. The project will be delivered alongside Cornish charity, St Petrocs, and will provide 24 homes with wrap around support for local people experiencing homelessness. The project's transformative approach is inspired by Homewards - The Royal Foundation's five year programme to show that it is possible to end homelessness. During his visit William met representatives from the Duchy of Cornwall who are leading the development of the site and saw where the new housing will be located. He also met the CEO of St Petrocs, Henry Meacock, and a resident of St Petrocs Newquay who spoke to him about the transformative impact of receiving a home and the additional wrap around support.
