ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! The top spot goes to Ashes’ new drop, “Gloom, Ash and Emptiness to the Horizon.” This is Polish black metal that captures my favorite recipe in the genre. Next is Black Sabbath’s Cross Purposes - Live, which I listened to for the first time ever. I’m really angry because I avoided this for so long based on the initial comments saying that Tony Martin sounded awful. FALSE! He sounds great, and once again I am reminded that he and his era of BS albums have unfairly been given short shrift since the beginning. World Under Blood and 96 Bitter Beings gave me a latter-day CKY fix. Topped off with Savage Master, which is more fun than I should be allowed to legally have operating my turntable. ☠️ 1. Ashes - Gloom, Ash and Emptiness to the Horizon (2022) 2. Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes Live 3. 96 Bitter Beings - Synergy Restored (2022) 4. Black Sabbath - Dehumanizer 5.
