Each song is written and performed by myself, Justin Yates, with production, recording, and mixing by Dustin Bennett. The EP features contributions from an all-star lineup, including drummers Kyle Urbanik (Finding Ghosts, Immanuel Church Gurnee, Captain Geech & the Shrimp Shack Shooters) and Travis Orbin (Darkest Hour, Periphery, Sky Eats Airplane). Tell Me Something Great is the culmination of years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. When I say that I’m thrilled to share this project with all of you, it doesn’t even encapsulate the level of excitement I feel right now. This project has been one of the hardest projects I’ve been a part of, one of the biggest productions I’ve done, and is not only very personal to me, but personal to many people who helped create it. We all put years of work into this, and we all hope you are as happy with the music and products as we are. We think we have made something truly great and can’t wait to get it to those who appreciate the work.

Music is seen more and more as an expendable commodity, background noise, a trend, a hobby, or a brand. This is my life. I bare my soul in my albums for those willing to listen and support it. I don’t make background music, I’m not a “brand,” and I’m not expendable. I believe this album is worth more than $0.00034 a stream, and the people who helped fund it seem to agree. This is hands down the best shot from the edits I did yesterday. Sure, it’s not the most flattering photo of myself but it makes me laugh so hard every time I see it. Let me explain…so the guitar I’m using is Dustin’s #gibson 335 with a sweet #evertune / @evertune upgrade. This guitar is something special. Every time I use it for a session I tell @dustinbennettproducer I’m going to take it home with me one day. The photo not only looks like Dustin has a velvet painting of himself in the studio but also reminds me that he watches me like a hawk when I use it lol. 🚐🐵 Today I’m heading home. If I’m being 100% honest I still have yet to truly process the trip. So many good times, so much work was done, soooo many days feeling sick as a dog! As much as I hate to be leaving I’m happy to be heading back to my home base. I have a bunch of people to thank. You guys really made a guy feel loved and supported on this trip. I’m thrilled to announce that the tracking process is 99.9% complete! YAHOO! 🐵 Over the past few weeks @dustinbennettproducer has been working overtime to get everything to a good place before I leave town. Truthfully I feel like a zombie right now, I don’t know how this guy works non stop. He is a machine! The work flow this entire process has been steady and productive. It’s been a few weeks but truly it only feels like a few hours have gone by. The process tends to mess with your perception of time, but also working with someone you like makes the time fly by. Just a few things to review before we can move onto the next phase. Things are sounding really cool so far. We also made some last minute additions that I think you guys are really going to like. Everyday these songs are coming together more and more. Working on the finishing touches for the Bass. It feels like the days are bleeding together. Work, sleep, work, sleep…this has been the schedule for a few weeks now. Despite feeling like a zombie sometimes, I’m having a blast with @dustinbennettproducer. I knew I missed being at the studio working with Dustin, but until I returned I didn’t realize how much I miss this place and my friend. So far…things are sounding great! We are tracking some cool ideas, testing my vocal range, and much more.
