We are asking ALL students (and faculty/staff) to stand with us in solidarity by participating in all or at least one of the following 3 demonstrations for Tuesday, December 9th. 1. We will be wearing all black and taping a printed sheet/sign (or using string to make a sign-necklace) that reads a slogan that supports Ferguson and the recent non-indictment decisions (e.g. ‘Hands Up Don’t Shoot’, ‘Black Lives Matter’, ‘I Can’t Breathe’, etc.). - An example for this particular movement, however, is not a sign that reads ‘All Lives Matter’ 2. We will also host two 4.5 minute ‘die-ins’ and one 4.5 minute ‘hands up don’t shoot’ demonstration in 3 locations on campus (Green Hall, the Academic Quad, and the Lulu). We will march with our hands up from one location to the next. We are asking students to ‘walk out’ of class early to meet us in the Academic Quad by 12 noon. Full Schedule: 12 pm – Gather in the Academic Quad 12:05 pm – March to the 3rd Floor of Green Hall 12:10 pm – 4.5 minute Die-In on the 3rd Floor of Green Hall 12:16 pm – March out to the Academic Quad 12:20 pm – 4.5 minute Hands Up Don’t Shoot Demonstration in the Academic Quad (in conjunction with reading the names of unarmed black men and women who have been murdered in the recent years) 12:26 pm – March to the Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center 12:29 pm – 4.5 minute Die-In on the 1st and 4th Floors of the Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center (in conjunction with the reading of names) Following the demonstrations: 3. The Wellesley College Administration’s lack of attention paid to this issue has prompted a group of students to craft a letter that will be directed and forwarded to the administration. Upon reading the content of the letter, we are asking students to sign their name, organization, etc. to the letter in support of having our concerns addressed.
