Send me “ 💤 ” for my muse’s reaction to yours curling up beside them and dozing off!
It was nightfall. They'd taken shelter from the midnight rains in this abandoned building. They were in an old village that was by now being overtaken by overgrowth. The roof had a leak somewhere, but it was good enough for the time being.
Margaret helped clear the flooring for a quick campfire, using the very floorboards for fuel.
She'd been mostly quiet all day, which wasn't totally outside of the norm for her on their travels. Sometimes she just got lost in nature, other times listening out for the animals or for anyone following them, if she wasn't asking a question of him.
Now she was just quiet because she knew where they were. She didn't think they'd stumble across this place, but the minute she smelled rain in the air... she acted on instinct. From the faint arc of trees they were walking past, she led him here, feigning some guesswork. Truth be told, she hadn't been back here in quite a few years. She wasn't sure if the paths were still accurate. But the further in they pushed, the more certain she was that this was correct. She just acted as though it were mostly common sense. Kakuzu didn't question it, but knowing him, he probably sensed her avoidance to answer directly.
Now they were here. Margaret sat with her knees up to her chest, and her arms crossed over her legs. The exhaustion of their trip was weighing on her eyelids... but she foubd herself unable to sleep. Not in a place full of so many ghosts. Kakuzu, on the other hand, was already settling down... next to her, which was a surprise to her. Maybe because she figured there was plenty space around the campfire to choose from. But... she remembers she's one of the LEAST annoying of the organization members, per his words. It was... nice knowing he trusted her enough to rest nearby.
Margaret smiled faintly. She wouldn't be able to sleep now, but later, given some time, she'd fall asleep with her head tucked into her knees.
