He isn’t sure what to think when he walks in. Halfway through taking off his suit jacket is when he sees it. And smells it. A massive spruce tree. How did she even get that into the apartment? And when did she buy the massive pile of decorations scattered all over his living room? He stops in his tracks, jacket halfway down his arms. “I don’t know if I’m worth all this,” he murmurs, wondering if she’s punishing him for something. She must be punishing him for something. It’s an absolute disaster.
Allison emerges from behind a pile of festive garlands and he almost laughs as his brows rise high. She’s covered in bits and pieces of pine needles, tinsel, and...good lord. Glitter. “I was going to surprise you for lunch. I didn’t realize you were busy destroying my apartment.” She trips and he makes a move to catch her, but he’s too far anyway, so he settles back and shrugs his jacket back on instead. There’s a slight cringe as he watches glitter cascade from her clothing. He’s never going to get that cleaned up.
As she offers up an explanation, he can’t help the slight tug at the corner of his lips, but he forces the full force of his amusement back down. He’s irritated by the mess, yes, but she looks so damn happy to be putting it all together. And she looks hilarious. Adorable, maybe. Forcing down a chuckle, Jack reaches out to brush a bit of glitter that’s dangerously close to finding its way into Allison’s eye. He hasn’t celebrated Christmas since he was a child, and it was never with this much seasonal ceremony. But does he hate it?
“That depends. Are you having fun making a mess of yourself and my home?”
