A Battle Against Death

Shauntal knew that this day was going to come at some point. Much to her disappointment, it came sooner rather than later. Just as her life was finally coming together, as she was living in happiness with one she cared so dearly for finally noticing her; she had to face a lingering shadow that had been haunting her since her youth.

She was glad that her Pokemon were released. The last thing she wanted them to remember of her is how she possibly fell in a battle she had no chance in winning. There were only two Pokemon that remained with her. Chandelure, Belina, and her Hisuian Zoroark, Noxderia.

One last look over her loyal companions before she makes for the the graveyard.

There was an uneasy fog over the ground, rising to her ankles. Not even Belina's haunting flame could part the fog to light their way. Shauntal frowned a bit as she felt a chill crawl up her spine. She could feel that there was something near, as did her own Pokemon. Noxderia growled under her breath, hackles up.

A few feet ahead, Shauntal could see that there was a figure shrouded in shadow, just barely visible to her. Arms tucked within it's sleeves as they made slow strides forward.

' You came alone, save for your partners, good. You know there is no avoiding the inevitable. Your time is up..'

Shauntal looked down to her Pokemon, lips twisted. Her hands curled at her sides within her dark gloves.

"No."

The figure slowly tilts their head, 'No...? Explain.'

She swallowed a dry breath, feeling an invisible spotlight on her as she spoke up.

"I'm..not going to let this be the end of the road. As I recall, that night..when I was pulled back during my time of grief, I was told I need to seek out a reason to live. I've found it..and just before I could truly embrace the love Lucian has to offer, you threaten to pull the plug. Why bother saving me that night if this is what that message meant?"

She took a step back as her Pokemon took a step forward to protect Shauntal. It was sort of ironic that these two came with her today.

Belina, back when she was still a little Litwick, was in her hand when she was grieving and as she focused on the haunted flame, Shauntal allowed herself to be consumed by darkness. She thought that was the end of the line for her. But a shadowed figure told her that she has so much more to accomplish in the future. She has a purpose to live, but she had to find it herself.

When she came to, her weeping ghost companion was filled with glee when she awoke with breath in her once more. Her flame lit the pathway to such a bright and brilliant future.

Noxderia, her beloved Hisuian Zoroark. She was such a treasure to her. Revived from a fossil and brought back to life as an emotional support Pokemon, Shauntal showed her friend so many places around the world during her travels when her writing required her to visit other regions between meetings and Elite Four duties.

During her lonely nights, Shauntal would lean against her partner and utter stories to pass the time.

She had two Pokemon who understood her position and wanted to see her still thrive for a bright future she fought so hard for.

The Shadowed figure growled,'If you feel the need to fight to live, then fight! Prove that your soul is worth saving!'

Shauntal took a battle stance, prepared to give orders. It seems that they would be fighting a shadow of death today.

She carefully removes each glove, hidden beneath the fabric, were ghost touched burns when she would help lost ghost types find their way, even if it meant to harm herself in the process. She wasn't afraid of the marks being seen, not today!

"Fine then. The gloves are off!"

Shauntal looks to her Chandelure, "𝘔𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢. 𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘶𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺! Use Flamethrower!"

Shauntal then turns to her Hisuian Zoroark,"𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 Noxderia. S𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨!~ Use Bitter Malice!"

This was it! The final fight for her life. She just hoped that this would be enough...

The law was created for a reason. There is a hierarchy for a reason. Just because this is Hell, does not mean that all must be chaotic. Should those of any class break the law, a just punishment must be administered."

Belphegor closes her eyes for a moment. It would appear that she was sleeping, but she was actually gathering her thoughts. "Hm..I honestly think Satan was far too light on the sentence with the Prince. He should be happy to still have his head. I am not in favor of a retrial. Do not try to convince me otherwise."
