What have you been up to since the last time we spoke?

D.S

Been a busy year! Time has flown!

Since we last spoke I’ve covered Wimbledon – 77 years of hurt ended and all that… Also covered some Champions League, golf, darts – you name it!!

CWM What do make of the David Moyes situation? And does this mean the life span of a premier league manager is now on average 12 – 18 months?

D.S

The David Moyes situation was both intriguing and fascinating.

I think there was both an element of surprise but also an element of inevitability about what happened.

On the one hand, to see him leave just 10 months into a six year contract was a surprise.

Manchester United pride themselves on giving their managers time… One only has to look at the previous manager to see that.

But unfortunately for Moyes, the results simply didn’t come. And united have to consider the long term effects – not being in the champions league will mean a big loss in revenue.

Generally, we’ve seen the managerial merry go round keep spinning this season… NINE clubs change their manager – Fulham did it twice! Sometimes it has worked – you only have to look at the job Tony Pulis has done at Palace.

CWM When we last spoke in July/August 2013 and you said to me you had a sneaky feeling about Arsenal would you care to elaborate on what went wrong?

D.S

Did I say Arsenal??!! I don’t remember haha! I don’t think it was the worst prediction… They spent more time at the top than any other team – unfortunately for them, not at the right time. They’ve been unlucky with injuries to be fair.

But ok… Hands up… I got it wrong!

On the 8th of May the FA announced the launch of the new 3 Division, do you think this will benefit young players?

D.S

This so called League 3 or B team league is at a proposal/discussion stage. I think it is good the commission want to give young home grown players a chance. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

CWM Right World Cup 2014 in a matter of weeks, are you going? And who do you think will take home the trophy? Also who do you think will be player of the tournament and take the golden boot?

D.S

Hmmmm…. Brazil is going to be fascinating… I think Brazil or Argentina will win it (can I say 2?!)… Messi player of the tournament and Hulk to win golden boot… Though predictions have not been the best of late… (See arsenal)…

CWM Froch v Groves 2, There’s only 500+ tickets left for the Wembley stadium fight, does this mean that British Boxing is experiencing a resurgence?

D.S

I don think British boxing has ever been off the map… But this fight has captured everybody’s imagination… If it is half as good as the first one, we are in for an amazing night.

Having spoken to both boxers recently, above all they want a CONCLUSIVE finish this time!
