The best cuisine in the world
Is it French? Italian? Chinese? Or maybe the not so well-known Somalian? I often heard or was asked this question. After years of thinking and eating, I have found the answer.
The facts that most French love French food the most, or Chinese love Chinese food the most suggest to me that people favor cuisine that they are most used to or grew up eating (the former is about duration and the latter chronology). For most people, the food they grew up eating is also what they are most used to. So, problem solved, let’s eliminate this question from the world question bank.
Unconvinced? Perhaps four experiments could help:
1) Make a biologically Chinese newborn grow up in France and feed him the local French food for 18 years. Then ask him the question.
2)Make a biologically French newborn grow up in China and feed her the local Chinese food for 18 years. Then ask her the question.
3)Make a biologically Chinese newborn grow up in China and feed her 100% authentic French food for 18 years. Then ask her the question.
4)Make a biologically French newborn grow up in France and feed him 100% authentic Chinese food for 18 years. Then ask him the question.
Perhaps poorly designed, but the first two experiments intend to examine the role of genetics and the last two the role of environment.
