Just Deserts | Klaus & Autumn
When did everything become so complicated? Just last year, her only concerns would have been campaigning for Homecoming, cheerleading, spending as much time with her friends as possible, and clothes. And now, running for Miss Mystic Falls and participating in a popularity contest was the furthest thing from her mind. She had little to no interest in the event; it all seemed so trivial. She had been forced to grow up rather quickly over the past few months and although she was happy with the way her life was at the moment, there were still constant reminders of just how weird things were. Dangerous, even. The chances of that changing were slim, and she wasn’t even sure if she wanted them to, but having an opportunity to catch her breath every once in a while would have been appreciated.
As she placed the locket she had received around her neck, a smile met her lips. Things were so simple with him back then; with Parker. The bond the two of them shared was still the same but there was so much more to think about and consider now. He revealed to her that he had tasted her blood once before, and although she was able to look past it after being given some time to think, it was clear that he was yet to forgive himself for ever touching her in a completely non-romantic way. It was part of the reason he had decided to leave town for a couple of days, more than likely. That and the fact that he was starving. Autumn hated that he waited until the hunger was unbearable before feeding; that he felt obligated to do so simply because she was around. If there was a way for her to make things easier for him, she would. And if there was a way to take back the stupid stunt she pulled which involved standing on Aiden’s doorstep in order to drag Parker back to town while he was in the middle of a hunt, she would. Letting out a sigh as memories from that night flooded her head, she grabbed a muffin from the kitchen before leaving the house.
“You need to have some sort of life, regardless of whom you’re dating. I’m not going to take away your social life.”
The Grill. That’s how Autumn planned to spend her afternoon. It was probably the only location in Mystic that always seemed to be alive, filled with students that had nothing better to do with their time; the town hotspot. As she walked through the doors, she took a quick glance around the area before shrugging out of her jacket and heading for a table. She waved to a group of girls from school as they called her name, though none of them were particularly close to her. There were only a small handful of people from school whom she considered friends and that handful was only getting smaller with time. Not to say that she was pushing people away or anything, it was just becoming more and more difficult to associate with those who surrounded themselves with petty drama. Placing her jacket over the back of a chair, Autumn slid into a seat behind a table, immediately pulling out her phone after making herself comfortable. Parker was meeting her in a couple of hours and she was supposed to entertain herself until then, be a normal teenage girl for a while or something like that. Maybe Matt works today, she thought to herself while drumming her fingers on the table. Her eyes flickered around the room in an attempt to spot him. No such luck. Approaching the group of girls who had greeted her as she came in wasn’t an appealing thought at all but sitting by herself and waiting for someone else to walk through the entrance would be a painful way to pass the time.
