Hillary Clintons speech at Al dinner attempted to approach connect with the citizens of New York city. She also uses humor throughout her speech. Making fun of the rumors that are currently being said about her like taking time to speak out of her rigorous nap schedule. I believe this allows the audience to connect with her by giving them a sense of security and amnesty that Hillary can be personable. She plays into New York City citizens who may not like her by endorsing NYC and calling it the greatest American city that embodies the American dream. Personally, being a person who is in the middle with who to vote for this speech gave me a feeling that Hillary can make a joke and still be serious and get what needs to be done, done.
Donald Trumps speech at Al dinner attempted to approach and connect with his audience by using sympathy. Describing that all of his “friends” in office used to like him when they wanted his money or when he was affiliated with the democratic party. As trump goes on he plays to the Hillary supporters by dishing out her dirty secrets especially when he brings up that she got kicked out of the watergate commission. He is appealing to the audience that believes Hillary does no wrong or doesn’t mind if she does because they don’t know any better. He is bringing to light and slandering her in front of millions to see. However this backfires as many boo’s come out of the crowd. Quickly, rebounding he attempting to ring in the audience by speaking of the things he will improve and change if he gets elected.
