@svnflowvr (For Francesca Bridgerton)
The days were long, here. Longer even than back home, and those were daunting and tedious enough as they were. Here, she didn’t even have the comfort of her mother and sister to pass the time. Kate always held her head high, never letting anyone know that something or someone had affected her in any way. It was a farce, of course- but no one would know. Not if she could help it.
And here, yes, she was troubled. Lonely. Confused. Aimless, even. She felt lost in a world she didn’t understand. At the very least, the women here were treated much more respectfully- and had (almost) as many rights as the men. Who could have imagined such a place existed?! She should have been happy, but the loneliness won out.
But then there was today, catching a glimpse of a woman that Kate just couldn’t shake from her mind. A familiar face? Not quite, but it was so close. “Excuse me” She approached the young woman, not wanting to miss her chance at finding someone she knew, or even...the flavor of knowing. “Have we met before?” There was hope in her eyes, practically begging this stranger to know her.
