I feel like the only human on this planet who thinks UWC is a farce. I wish I had someone to commiserate with. But everyone thinks it's just soo amazing.

#uwc #i mean tbf most people are comparing it to their national education system whereas I can compare it to what other parts of the IB system ar #like and how other non UWC schools handle it #and i know that so many people are mainly starry eyed because this is their first experience abroad and seeing other cultures #but i hate that that ends up preventing them from thinking critically ESPECIALLY when that's kind of supposed to be one of the things you #learn? like a huge part of the IB system which supposedly the UWC movement helped develop is that you learn to think critically and think #for yourself. but hey it's no surprise given that the final 2 years of IB (which is what you get at UWCs) are mainly about getting you to #university level understanding of the subjects you take and there's ultimately not as much room as there is in the PYP and MYP to develop #yourself more holistically through the curriculum and there's like zero talk of the 'IB learner profile' by that stage even tho it's suppos #to represent all the things you're supposed to have come to embody by the time you've completed their education system #here's to hoping they've actually started doing that now #But I fucking doubt it
