I'm really glad to see that you've included the A-6 Intruder in the lineup. It saddens me that one of the most Iconic Navy attackers hasn't been featured in a lot of aviation themed games. Considering that it could carry just about every air-to-ground munition in the Navy's arsenal, you'd expect it to be a bit more popular in those games.
Yeah I’ve been doing a bit of reading on it ever since I saw it at the Naval Aviation museum in Pensacola. It’s a pretty impressive little plane that was capable of pretty much every air to ground mission, can carry a totally stupid amount of bombs, and by the end of its service even supported weapons like the AGM-88 HARM and AGM-84 Harpoon.
I think the main reason it’s not more popular is because subsonic ground pounders just aren’t as sexy as supersonic fighter jets. I’ll admit even I tend to not think too much about jets if they don’t have afterburners but the combination of the MiG-15 and Harrier in DCS have been changing my mind.
4th gen at this point is looking like it sort of becomes a “what’s your favorite plane” choice because so many planes do such a wide variety of things. Don’t get too excited though, there’s still a long way to go before it gets into the game in any real capacity.
