Wading through LexCo’s paperwork had been a bear of a chore. Tim leaned back in his chair, giving it a half-hearted spin with a sigh before tipping forward again. Next set of files was on Cadmus. He propped his head in a hand as he clicked through the sparse notes. Not enough to care about, but… every other section so far had way more info than this. It was suspicious.

After some serious digging, and a little hacking, more files were found. Ones about genetic experiments, psychic creatures used to control other experiments. Failures were noted, and also Cadmus’s labs ran deep underground. Tim ran a hand through his hair and stood, making his way to the bullet train station that connected Gotham to Metropolis.

Once in the city, they changed into uniform and made their way to the edge of it, finding the building Cadmus worked out of before it was apparently shut down. A little bit of work, and Moth was making his way down the elevator shaft, into the depths of the earth. He wasn’t sure who, or what, he’d find.

Love is all good until when it ends. Then you enter that insane questioning phase - was it even real in the first place? And then comes the sulking and whining phase where you just start grinding things inside your head which is by now so fucked up that it can't think straight. Followed by this is the worst of all phases: the self-blaming stage, wherein you end up taking blame upon yourself which ideally had nothing to do with you at all, where you slowly get reduced to something so small in your own eyes that fills with nothing but misplaced remorse and regret. Oh no, its not ended, the roll a coaster after ride has just begun. Then comes the stage where you step into a really low self esteem, no longer taking any courage to step into any other human relationship, just like a child who once accidentally put his hand into the fire and got burns, now you will run away from the sight of fire. Naïve, not knowing that fire has so many good applications if wisely used. But a child is child afterall, burnt once, fear gripped into the psyche forever. So at this phase basically one just cuts off the entire world. Wears thick skin, builds high walls, just so that one doesn't knowingly or unknowingly fall into another relationship blunder. Oh so you think, that's the end of it? There are worse things waiting. You've been stabbed well that you'll see knife in the hands of someone coming with nothing but flowers in their hands and love in their hearts. You've by now lost complete ability to see who's a true lover and who's fake, you mix up the two, turning purely delusional and almost doubting every good soul that comes to you with a pure heart. So you simply shut the door on their face. As they say, hurt breeds further hurt. Are there worse things to happen, the list is endless. The pain, the anguish, the confusion - they'll slowly kill you inch by inch as long as you allow yourself to sink in them. Step out. Make your mind. Don't let the heart cry any longer over the spilt milk. What's gone is gone...

It was early October evening, the boys pressed so close together on the bed that wasn't even originally meant for two people. Billy had spent his morning at school and after picking up Max, they hung out a bit at the Hawkins park where Billy was watching her skateboard. He dropped her off at Cherry Lane later and picked up Steve on his way home. His new temporary home, also known as Hopper's cabin. Hopper was still missing after July the 4th, and everyone assumed he was dead, but Billy had a strange nagging feeling that told him everyone was wrong. Billy had barely known Hopper, he had seen him around Hawkins before, and it felt strange to live in the missing man's cabin, but somehow it also seemed fitting, Billy just couldn't quite explain why. He kept seeing dreams of a faraway land, covered in snow and ice, and he also often saw that girl's face in his dreams, the girl with a strange name who he'd tried to sacrifice, bit instead almost died defending. He'd been released from hospital about half a month ago, and was getting used to living on his own, in the woods. They spent time with Max, and occasionally he drove her around just like in old times. Once in a while he helped her with school assignments. He was slowly learning to be a better brother and Max was secretly loving it. Billy himself still had one year of school to complete, and the doctors allowed him to go back to school in October. Billy had a schedule worked out, and he was gradually getting used to leading some kind of a normal life. Some things came easier to him. Like teachers never making any problems for him no matter how late he was for a class. Billy was "the fortunate survivor of the terrible fire at Starcourt costing local police chief Jim Hopper his life." Some people stared at him, some didn't, all in all, life was going on and, in Billy's opinion, it was going really well. Things were definitely looking up. He and Steve seldom spent a night apart. Steve hadn't gotten into any college and stayed in Hawkins working at a local video store. They practically lived together in Hopper's cabin, and sometimes Billy stayed over at the casa del Harrington, when Steve's parents were away.

They'd arrived at the Vatican early enough that the crowd hadn't filled *every* available inch of space of the courtyard, streams of people driven by curiosity still filtering in. It's easy enough to break away from Enzo into the centre of the crowd, where his face will blend in with every other, though he doesn't doubt that Enzo still knows exactly where he is.

There are flags snapping in the breeze above them, punctuating the gradual rise of noise. Soon, there will be too many people for him to move. Already someone nearly walks into his back, the free space around him slowly shrinking.

He turns away to slip through the crowd, when a hand catches at his sleeve, before the fabric slips through it. Jacobo glances back, before stopping mid-step. "Ah - fuck. Hello again."
