A Code in Process || Sweet Mouse
@doctor-sweet
When you arrive at your shift, normally one doesn’t assume that it would go down for the worse. Granted, Minnie has learned thus far that you can’t exactly assume everything would go well and dandy in the hospital.
Most times it never did.
But, all in all, at least a code wasn’t what anyone wanted to have on their to-do-list for their night shift, especially not Minnie. Today, Minnie had been floated over to the Operating Room where she stood in for several surgeries already circulating through the varies typse of nurses required. For this particular surgery, however, she was assigned as the RN first assistant.
It was to be a normal surgical procedure and Minnie had already prepped the patient pre-op and was helping transport move her via stretcher to her assigned room. Everything was going smooth as it ought to be and Minnie was even chatting it up with the patient, calming her nerves, answering any questions she may have, and speaking very well about her surgeon whom Minnie found she enjoyed working under the times she was able to do so.
And suddenly in the span of a minute.... it all went down hill.
The patient’s eyes rolled back, skin went pale as a ghost and she became unresponsive. In a quick ten second assessment Minnie determined the patient had stopped breathing and had could find no pulse. Before she knew it, the brunette found herself over the patient immediately starting compressions and yelling orders to the transport team telling them to find the surgeon, grab an AED/crash cart and dial the hospital’s emergency number.
Yeap, nothing like a code in the middle of a hall way.
