Nox Arcana - A Distant Light
A Distant Light by Yasmin Khan & Simon J Ashcroft
Like murmuration, Khan and Ashcroft’s anthology both draws forth a whole from swirling parts and evokes thought of the liminal space between sight and darkness. Continue reading A Distant Light by Yasmin Khan & Simon J Ashcroft

A Distant Light
You find yourself lost in a harsh environment, on the verge of collapse. Your supplies are dwindling and nearly gone. You may be grievously injured, or ill, you may even be showing signs of madness. But just as you find yourself losing all hope, you see something on the horizon -
A lighthouse.
A Distant Light is an attempt at a choose-your-own adventure/solo journalling RPG, using tarot cards to determine your progression.
Yeah so in true ADHD-hell fashion I have been seized by the need to dive into creating something I've barely ever worked with or understand (ok actually no I've been wanting to create a tarot deck story generator for nigh on 15 years) so uhhhh.
IDK what this will become, all of the above was thought up during work yesterday & scribbled down at midnight before I passed out, but I'm vibing with it enough to put it here as An Official Project Of Sorts!
Right now all that's really going to amount to is occasional [sustained screaming] and probably a bunch of aesthetic posts, but who knows what will come of it. I don't even know how involved it will become - so far I've been able to map out how to work the beginning chunk easily enough, but the sort of... daydream-y 'wouldn't that be cool' idea right now is to have something that could facilitate going down... probably three? Four? distinct paths, which could further branch out depending on draws & an individual's motivation; but the beginning chunk alone already has some nice potential in generating shorter stories...
[The broad paths in mind are like - maybe the lighthouse is the entry point for some grand lost underground city/civilization? Maybe the player establishes connection with someone further away & has to choose to stay or go? Maybe the lighthouse already has someone around, and you find yourself settling into an apprenticeship? To say nothing of if the draws say you're like - a fugutive on the run (Actually what's shaped up for my first little play test!), or on some huge quest lmao-]
Anyway.
-loud shrug- It's holding my interest for the moment and gives me an excuse to fiddle with my cards.
Also yes the working title is absolutely stolen from a Blaqk Audio song, like, y'all know me.
Interview with BURAK OZMUCUR
Burak Ozmucur knows how to combine the light with the heavy. This solo artist has been releasing consistently impressive EPs over the past handful of years, falling somewhere between the grungy grit of Alice in Chains and the progressive scope of Porcupine Tree and TesseracT. I got in touch with the man behind the music to get us up to speed on his work. Hello! How’s it going? I’m doing great!…
