My university’s English Department has been sending me emails every month and I finally clicked on one. They created this portal for alumni, faculty, and students to discuss literature, writing, and internships/jobs. It’s so cute! I want to help these undergrads get internships but I’m currently unemployed and have no power!

A Network
At the moment, I am wondering not so much what the point of life is, but what we are all doing here. Ultimatley, life is redundant. Everything we do has no overbearing importance or effect on the 'Grand Scheme of Things'. Yet, it is possible to find evidence against the statement that our actions have no consquence on anything else. Use the very dependable example of Hitler. If what I pose is true, then it does and did not matter that Hitler was the perpetrator of horrific discrimination, exploitation and torture. But why do we know and feel that this is inherently and intrinsically wrong? Why do we want to not allow these things to happen? We in general seem to have some sort of human instinct or moral guidance linking us to other human beings... Is this the importance or impotus of life, not to allow human existence to sink into spiralling cruelty and disregard. Religion has no impact on me, I do not believe in a god. I thought earlier that it might be nice - comforting, rewarding - to believe in some kind of god, to feel that there was purpose to everything, to feel like my life, this world, the history and course of the universe had a wider context (if any) than how I see them to be. I suppose that perhaps I could argue that we as individuals are placed in context by the existence of society. We are something only because we relate to other people. I am a daughter only because someone conceieved me. Could we possbly extend this idea and suggest that our relations extend far beyond the names we hold? Could we all belong to some kind of network that not only connects us all now but has connected us with the past and future. The the reasons we all here is to promote humanity for some reason that isn't wholly evident right now. There is no saying whether this is true or false but perhaps it could become my kind of religion, my faith.
