I saw that there was a Nat King Cole album with a 2026 release date and got really excited thinking that he was still alive and still making new music.

Then I remembered he died in the 60's and made myself sad.

I have got to stop falling into the trap of assuming (financial) competence from my coworkers.

Some days I worry I'm bad at my job and am going to get fired.

Some days people in equivalent positions at our overseeing institution email me panicked because they wired a near hundred thousand euro payment in GBP rather than EURO and "can you please ask the vendor to refund us?"

And I stop worrying about getting fired so much.

Well, at least everything being frozen by freezing rain looks pretty?

Sucks that the power, and more importantly the heating, is out though.

So it's currently -14 (-26c) with wind chills of -33 (-36c). And I've just realized that I actually HAVE to leave my apartment to start my car after work today. Otherwise there is a good chance of the car just... Not starting tomorrow morning. Sometimes I do genuinely hate living in Wisconsin. Or maybe it's just the not having a heated garage that I hate the most.

Signalis has crawled inside my head and made itself a permanent space there. The story is great, the characters are fantastic, It's one of three games I've ever played that I intend to 100%.

If I had a nickel for every employer I've worked for who did a major accounting system overhaul while I was an employee based on promises from the software vendor around the specific capabilities of the software which wind up not panning out, I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's we that it happened thrice.
