Sometimes I read a specific kind of ‘bad fic,’ in a way that I’d watch a bad movie for fun. And they bring an opposite vibe bad movies do in the sense that bad movies often try to be as raunchy and push perceived comfort zones at possible sometimes because that’s like… artistic or even just funny to whatever writer and director made it.
Most of the ‘good’ bad fics I’ve read have been like, so sanitized sometimes that it strips away any genuine human characteristics from the characters being portrayed in favor of therapy speak and trad nuclear family values disguised as ‘woke’ and morally correct.
I think what draws me to this kind of thing is like, the way the author bleeds into their writing. Seeing how they’re figuring out morality, sexuality, etc.
And the funny thing is it wasn’t even a really defanged batfamily fic that inspired me to write all of this but instead a REALLY defanged Daredevil fic
