sounds like an even more sadistic way to have fun with Cloud in the og; makes sense, though I don't really think Sephiroth is /that/ full of inventiveness/creativity? like, he often seemed to go straight to the point (except when personal stuff concerning Cloud/Cloud's suffering was involved in his epic plans).
well he is a SOLDIER after all..
