At this moment, there are two choirs in Hogwarts.
The Frog Choir,
The Singing Salamander Choir
The Frog Choir
Frog Choir is the most traditional choir at Hogwarts. It was founded sometime during Celestina Warbeck’s time at Hogwarts (1928-1936) as a result of her mother’s frequent letters to the school demanding, among other artistic pursuits, a choir. They usually practised in the Great Hall but after the reconstruction in 1998, they won a room in the dungeons where they could practice without problem. The choir is quite talented, being able to both sing fluently in Latin as well as polyphonically. They won several years the European Wizard Choir Championship and are currently tied with Beauxbatons Choir on the amount of prizes. Because of its popularity, It became utterly hard to join. The choir current conductor is professor Hecate MacLaggen.
The Singing Salamander Choir
The Singing Salamander Choir, in the other hand, is a reaction to the elitism on Frog Choir. It was created by Professor William Stretton in 2009. The choir has the blessings of the Headmistress, however, most of the students believes that the Singing Salamander isn’t nothing but a joke, since they lost to Frog Choir every year on Hogwarts’ Annual Show Choir Constest.
Hogwarts’ Annual Show Choir Constest
Created in order to increase competitiveness among the choirs, to maintain the high standard in both, and encourage the spirit of friendship between the houses, the Hogwarts’ Annual Show Choir Contest takes place every year between February and April. Both choirs put their best numbers to compete in a presentation of 6 minutes each in the main hall. The Hogwarts students and teachers vote to choose who was better. The winner will represent the school in the European Championship of Magical Choirs and each of its members earns 80 points for their houses in the house cup
