Before I get underway with my theories on who Charles is and why he is A, I had to get this off my chest.
Okay I’m going to start this by saying I don’t understand why A would put a secret room with his most treasured things inside the doll house where the girls might come across it. I don’t get that. And I’m also going to say I don’t believe you Mona, I don’t believe you’ve never been in that room before – but that’s for another post.
The thing about A’s room and the playroom is it’s so baby/kid oriented. Keeping a cot as a treasured item to me sounds like something someone would do if they lost their baby or had it taken away from them. With all the pictures of the boys and kids toys everywhere it’s like a snapshot in time has been taken, nothing after that point in time is evident or relevant. That, or A is playing another game with the liars, and this is what I find more likely.
Why would this room exist in the dollhouse if it weren’t intended for the girls to see? It wouldn’t. Looking closely at A’s vault I’m not so sure if these are treasured memories or another way for him to play with his puppets. Literally all of the family photos up in the room are screenshots from that one video playing. Why wouldn’t they have other family photos from an earlier point in time to display? I find this fishy.
Now that’s out the way, let’s look at the supposed clues in the room. Taking a general look at the room there’s actually a lot of antique furniture and trimmings about, a French clock and urns over the fireplace, some sort of compass/navigation system (I have no idea what that is), the light fixtures, the chair, the record player and projector, it’s all pretty old stuff. So either A is pretty grown up or someone has fine taste.
A’s taste in music always surprises me, we have often heard more classic sort of tunes at the end of an episode as opposed to something a young hipster would listen to. Hearing this song I couldn’t help but think it was a clue (the music always seems to be a clue in this show). Listening to the lyrics it had me thinking perhaps A has been on a quest to find his family or a member of his family. Perhaps he was put out into adoption or if he is an older A perhaps he had his child taken away from him and he’s been searching for his baby ever since.
There’s a popcorn maker here with fresh popcorn. We know A like’s their black and white movies and sometimes with a bit of popcorn, is this where it all happens? The popcorn maker also looks like an antique – A is just so rich!
The mannequin family, ah the mannequin family how you hurt my brain trying to figure out who you all are! I can see people saying the Mum and daughter look like Mrs. D and Ally, but that’s where the comparisons end for me. I can’t place the boy or Dad. The only thing I really noticed about them was the placement of the Mum’s hand, she has it over her stomach like she’s pregnant. If that’s meant to be Mrs. D she needs to settle down. The only other thing I can come up with is the mannequin family only represent the idea of family as opposed to particular people. Maybe the mannequin family is all A had…
Now, the picture behind the mannequin family speaks volumes to me. When I saw this I immediately thought that must mean Charles is one of three children. Then I noticed a similar picture in the playroom so I’m pretty much ready to place bets on this one.
Yes, the baby cot in the room looks like the ones at Radley and about a million other cots. The mobile hanging over it looks blue so I’d say this was a boy’s cot. Now that I think about it why were babies at Radley in the first place? If you’re insane as a baby you wouldn’t know it or be able to communicate that fact. I must be missing something.
The collage picture on the wall gives me the creeps. There are four images present however I can only make out two of them (sound off if you know what the others are). One I at first thought was a baby but looking at it closely I’m pretty sure it’s a doll. The thing that really grabs my attention is an image of a missing puzzle piece. This could represent that A is missing something, perhaps their child, their childhood, or they are apart from their family and the missing piece to the puzzle. Whatever it means it’s got me intrigued.
The pictures everywhere are all taken from the video that’s playing, don’t you find that odd? If Charles is meant to be one of the boys, does he not have any photos of him with his family when he was younger? That’s weird. I have way too many theories on who these boys are so I’ll polish those up and do a separate thread on it. But all of the memorabilia A has, to me, it looks more like someone who lost their son more than anything. I mean who keeps building blocks that spell out their baby’s name? The only thing I’ll say is Mrs. D seemed only to speak to one of the boy’s when she said to kiss your sister goodnight. Is that because only one of them is the girl’s brother? And I also have to put it out there that Mrs. Hastings commented how they used to bring their girls to the Campbell’s farm all the time, is that because someone had an illegitimate love child living there? *Cough* Peter *Cough* And if the girls spent so much time there why haven't we heard any knee slapper stories between Spencer and Andrew as they look back at their apple picking days? Is that because the visits stopped abruptly and before Spencer would remember going there? So dodgy Mr. Hastings, so dodgy.
Meets 30....
A took control of the van where the train tracks meet 30, just like where the lost woods resort was according to that postcard that the girls were only able to figure out after finding half a postcard among Ali's "belongings" (who knows now?)... and Mona made a claim about the other half of the postcard in her version of a flashback with Ali... So Big A/Charles kidnapped the girls by where the original A lair was located/ the place Mona helped Ali escape Rosewood and fake her death... No coincidences in Rosewood...
It’s those cheeky and cool little details that make the show so much more awesome for us fans such as A watching a black and white movie at the end of 4x18, leading into the noir episode for 4x19. I love these little Easter eggs!
Whose lair did we see in the mid-season finale? I think it either had to be a detective/agent or (as others have mentioned) someone with OCD. Everything was so organized. Also, an LLC, to obscure who the payments are coming from, smells like a potential undercover operation. I am toying with the theory that Ezra is undercover and Cece was an informant.
A's(Ezra's??) Lair!
Who's drink is that?( Ezra?)
Aren't those the pictures that Ali supposedly took of Aria?
That story always seemed a little strange to me! Ali taking pic's of Aria while she is asleep? and she never felt it? and why would Ali take them in the first place? And how is it that A has them?! Or was Jason lying and someone else took the pictures?
A's Bank statement
What is with all of these P.I expenses? Is that Ezra's Lair and because he is not that in to action, or doesn't have the time, hires a P.I?
what is that picture Emily is holding!?
So CeCe is connected to the 50000 and NY.
I remember Shana getting calls from NY, and i also remember in one episode Ezra going to NY to find a job or something. Are these 3 connected?
Tapes and Book?
which book? Lolita!? And does A mean the Tapes Ian had? The NAT club!?
Is that A's Handwriting?
Who are these 2 girls in the photo from Emily's timeline!?
Events Posters
So the Poetry and the Carnival have happened, ( Ezra was kinda involved in both, he attended the poetry night and Malcom was taken to the Carnival), that leaves the 5 nights-10 movies! That also sounds like something Aria and Ezra would attend to!
