I just reblogged your post of 'when the pairing you don't like is so popular that its treated as canon...'. I saw your tags were 'aka johnlock'. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you that thank god someone on tumblr actually doesnt ship johnlock. Thank You. <3

Yeah, it can be pretty intimidating to be in the Sherlock fandom and not ship the most popular pairing (second would be mormor i bet, which i also don't ship mostly because the fans have turned me off). I mean, I love them both and their dynamic, but just not romantically. Tumblr can be very hypocritical sometimes- yelling about how authors and showmakers need to stop forcing romance into the plot, and yet that's exactly what everyone on here does. Granted, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat give Johnlock shippers all they need (there are some scenes that make me shake my head and say 'you're making it really hard for me to deny this ship') but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it, even if it ever does go canon (it won't). It's like there's a great divide between people who think Sherlock is gay (for john obvs) and people who think Sherlock is asexual (hi, that's me...I also think Moriarty is as well, which is the minority of the minority...it ruins everyone's precious ships). You can't have both though. So I know there's non-Johnlock shippers out there...some people prefer Sherlolly (i suppose that's another small side, people who think he's bi/pan/demi/straight) but out of the 12-odd million viewers, I'm sure a good amount don't think Sherlock and John want to marry each other. What I can say is that they are platonic soulmates- I don't discredit the values of Johnlock, because the only difference between shipping them romantically and not is the part where they do the do. Everyone realizes they're the best of friends, they'd die for each other, they have an unbreakable bond. I just think that John loves Mary romantically, and Sherlock is asexual/aromantic.
