A-I-U-E-Ookina Citron JAPAN (Citron Character Song #2)

Hey ladies and gentleman, it’s Citron!
I have finally mastered the basics of Japanese!
Coming in with a bang bang, I raise my fish high
Make whale for the king and all his splenda
If the spring wind blows, the wife is profitable
I am so excited, my heart is pacing
I am riding a tidepod of happiness
Ronron-ro ronron
Come on, all you people of Japan
Purple, I wanna eat some hitsumabushi
If we eat from the same pot then
That means our hearts have already become wanwan!
I have so many friends, I will cherish each and every memory
and continue living my everyday easterly.
“I gotta follow down this path I started, I thought to myself, it’s all thanks to you guys that I learned I can change my own fate!”
My journey started with just a simple AEIOU
What a miracle it was to walk through all this happiness and sadness,
When we put our hands together there is no doubt this is happiness,
That’s why I want to be here tomorrow,
It’s destiny, and for whom?
For myself, this is the story I have chosen.
“Woooow this feeling is totally sappiness! Ahh when we put our hands together, that is sappiness!”

“There are times I feel like giving down, but you give me a reason to keep looking ahead.”
My journey started with just a simple AEIOU
What a miracle it was to walk through all this happiness and sadness,
Even though we’re smelling, it’s not over yet, our time together is precious to me
We are bonded through our smiles and years
Look into my eyes, believe it!
That’s why I can live another day with smiles,
This destiny is for me, for everyone, this is the way for me
“Don’t you think we’re even closer than before? This is such a bream, kiss kiss!”

Summary: Due to Citron’s work as the Zahran Minister of Culture and Arts there has been a surge in interest in foreign culture in Zahra. Prince Tangerine gives his brother a call, but it seems he has more on his mind than just an invitation..

Sakyo
It’s getting higher..
Izumi
It really has.
Muku
What is?
Izumi
The PV on our official site, look.
Sakyo
That’s 15% more than last month.
Sakuya
Wow, amazing!
Kazunari
Looks like the impact of our collaboration play with God Troupe.
Citron
A big boost to our poopularity!
Kazunari
Hmm, I think you mean popularity!
Izumi
But why now? I kind of wanna say there is some other reason.
Sakyo
Whatever it is has to be pretty big for our views to soar this high.
Kazunari
Regardless of the reason, this just means for our next collaboration we should try an even bigger collab, right?
Muku
But there really isn’t anyone more popular than God Troupe.
Sakyo
That’s true.. It would have to be some sort of king of kings troupe or something.
Izumi
There really aren’t any other troupes we could collab with.
Kazunari
Yeaaahhh, so maybe we should try to look for a different type of collab..?
Citron
OH..!
Izumi
What is it?
Citron
I planned to have a video call with Tangerine!
Izumi
Yeah that reminds me I need to get ready to head out soon..
Let’s talk about this a little later, okay? If you think of anything you can let me know.
Citron
Got it!
Citron
.....
Izumi
The sakura tree?
Citron
I was just thinking the buds look a little small.
Izumi
We have some time before they start blooming.
Citron
Soon it will start getting warmer and thennn.. Buru-buru-bloominguuu!
Izumi
Yeah. Let’s do some flower viewing then.
Citron
I look forward to it~
Izumi
By the way, aren’t you supposed to be having a call with Tangerine?
Citron
AHH! I GOTTA GO!
Citron
<< I’m glad you seem well. >>
Tangerine
<< I’m happy to see my dear older brother is also looking well. >>
Citron
<< Anyway, what was it you wanted to ask me? >>
Tangerine
<< Well the other day the Zahran Board of Education did a nationwide survey and it seems like a lot of kids have become interested in foreign culture because of you.
For our country, I would like to create a system to encourage students to study abroad and provide some financial support to help..>>
Citron
<< That sounds great. I think broadening the experience and knowledge of the younger generation coincides perfectly with our country’s fundamental values. >>
Tangerine
<< Because of your huge influence, the other cabinet ministers and heads of various departments have asked me if you would be willing to help us promote foreign culture.
For example, maybe an online performance or something.. >>
Citron
<< Online? Are you sure that’s all you want? >>
Tangerine
<< I understand that you’re busy so I did not want to burden you with making a trip all the way to Zahra. >>
Citron
<< It’s just.. Don’t you want to see me? >>
Tangerine
<< OF COURSE! I would love to see you! >>
Citron
<< I’m happy to hear that.
I am always willing to do something if it is for the sake of the future of our country. I am the Minister of Foreign Arts and Culture after all.
This is great timing for me too, I actually wanted to ask for your help with something too. >>
Tangerine
<< Ask for my help for what? >>
Citron
<< It’s actually.. >>
.....
<< So what do you say? I think it will be a great opportunity to experience foreign culture. >>
Tangerine
<< Thank you so much, yes, definitely I agree! I will go speak with his majesty and the other ministers at once! >>
Wow that act off with the first generation was super dupah hard yoooo~.
Ya know, I woulda never thought those hot template guys were the same ones who gave Mankai all their love back in the day.
.. Wait, are you telling me the word isn’t ‘hot template’? Huh, guess I should ask Tsuzuru what the right word is later.
Wait I just remembered something now that we’re on the topic of Tsuzuru and our act off. I haven’t seen him with writers block this bad since our Clockwork performance.
Tsuzuru poured all his blood, sweat, and tears into his works. Thinking until his brains fell out, but it all paid off in the end and he created a story that only he could create.
I am sure our next performance is going to be a big hit. Perhaps our next story will lead us on a journey that is longer and more difficult than we have ever encountered before..
As long as I have Mankai by my side everything will be alright. You guys are my beloved family. No matter how far the journey is, no matter how hard, I am eggcited to see where it takes us.
“I will continue working hard until the curtain falls for the last time. My wish is for you to continue watching over us wherever our journey takes us.”

Citron
Hello everyone, I have some great shoes!
Homare
Shoes, huh? Where?
Citron
WE’RE GOING TO PERFORM IN ZAHRA!
Izumi
WHAT!?
Citron
Tangerine told me that the interest in foreign culture has surged amongst the Zahran youths and has asked me for help promoting foreign culture.
And I thought the best way to do that would be to perform a play in Zahra!
Sakyo
I see.. A performance in Zahra you say? I had a feeling you would suggest that.
Citron
And I was just informed by Tangerine that the king has already approved of the plan!
Itaru
Wow, you guys get things done fast over there.
Sakyo
Hmm well we have already performed in Zahra. We held the encore performances for Winter Troupe’s opera and Spring Troupe’s Quartet there. I’m guessing this time will be different from the previous performances.
A performance officially endorsed by the Zahran royal family would certainly add to our already high prestige as an acting troupe.
Izumi
I couldn’t think of a more perfect idea!
Tenma
So you’re saying the royal family is really going to give us their official endorsement? Well then we can’t let ourselves flop. Wait and doesn’t that mean the contents of the performance would have to go through some close inspection first?
Banri
If we’re going to Zahra we should leave it to Spring and Winter since they have experience.
Tsumugi
Since you put it that way, maybe we should do a mixed performance.
Citron
I want to play the lead.
Izumi
I agree, Citron would be the ideal candidate to perform the lead in a play for the children of his home country.
Sakyo
And not to mention you’re quite popular over there.
Sakuya
I agree!
Tsuzuru
So then, Citron, what kind of play were you thinking?
Citron
Well.. When I think we should do something that captures the essence of Japan. Like.. KABUKI!
Izumi
Kabuki?
Citron
I want to teach the children of Zahra that their dreams can come true even in a different country!
Tsuzuru
That sounds nice. It seems like it will be a bit difficult to write such a play, but I am up for the challenge.
Yuki
The costumes will probably be a bit tough, but I’m excited.
Kazunari
Super vibing just thinking about these kabuki inspired costumes yoooo!!!
Tasuku
I know a bit about kabuki to a certain extent so I’m willing to help in any way I can.
Tsuzuru
Thanks.
Izumi
Now that we decided the theme of the performance, let’s decide who is going to be in it.
Sakuya
Me, I want to perform!
The Zahran people were so kind during our training camp so I am definitely interested in performing again for them in this mixed performance..
Citron
With Sakuya with us, we’ll be so strong!
Izumi
I see..
Tangerine
<< KABUKI!? I am sooo soooooo happy that you’re gonna perform over here! And on top of that you’re gonna do Kabuki! >>
Citron
<< I am glad to hear you’re excited, we’ll do our best. >>
Tangerine
<< Oh.. Are you going to invite Orange and Navel to the performance? >>
Citron
<< .. Hmm, well I guess I don’t mind them coming. >>
Tangerine
<< Got it. Alright so once we get the schedule and other details figured out I’ll give you a call. >>
Citron
<< Thanks. >>
Tangerine
<< Good luck on your practice! >>
Citron
<< Thank you. Talk to you soon. >>
..
Azuma
Isn’t it a little too early for flower viewing.
Guy has made some jasmine tea. How about we have a cup together?
Citron
Ohh looks delicious. Sure I’ll have a sip!
Azuma
Did you tell Prince Tangerine about our Kabuki play?
Citron
Yeah, he was really excited. Kabuki is pretty popular overseas.
Azuma
I guess it is all thanks to the prince that Japan has become popular over there.
Citron
We got so many people wanting to study abroad, soon enough we’re gonna have to form a Zahra Troupe at Mankai!
Azuma
Hmm, sounds fun.
.. And how are your other two brothers?
Citron
—
Azuma
Apologies if it is a sensitive topic.
Citron
Jason in the wall, Bloody Mary in the mirror, Citron behind you back. Azuma above your head.
Azuma
Fufu, that makes it sound like I’m some sort of ninja. I am not here to eavesdrop.
I don’t know that much Zahran so I couldn’t understand what you were saying. All I know is I heard those two names mentioned.
Citron
You got sharp ears.
Azuma
Fufu, I just think they have cute names.
Citron
Cute.. That’s not a word often used to describe those two.
Azuma ..
By the way, do you have sakura in Zahra?
Citron
No, we don’t. When I was younger I really wanted to see them so I looked up how I could grow them myself. Sadly the climate and maintenance for them is just not possible in Zahra.
But I didn’t want to give up so I planted some artificial sakura flowers in the garden.
Azuma
Oh, you really did love Japan.
Citron
At that time I don’t think I really knew I loved Japan, but I was engrossed in a particular Japanese picture book.
Azuma
Picture book?
Citron
It’s the one called “The Story of the Old Man Who Made Withered Trees to Blossom!”
Azuma
Oh, you’re talking about the old fairytale with Hanasaka Jiisan?
Citron
YEP!
It just goes to show you, no matter what absurdity happens, an honest man always gets his reward. So I worked hard, knowing that there was someone always watching over me.
Azuma
Do you think you ended up getting rewarded in the end?
Citron
All I can say is that I am thankful I believed in the story.
Azuma
Then I am sure you will be able to express your feelings through the play to the rest of the Zahran people.

Izumi
So this is what an acrobatics dojo looks like.
Citron
I’M SO PUMPED!
Izumi
So how do you start?
Hisoka
...... Let me show you.
Izumi
Huh? You know how?
Hisoka
HAH!
Citron
WOW! Looks just like how I see it done in Kabuki!
Izumi
AMAZING!
Hisoka
Right now we will work on the three primary virtues. During the play, Sahul learns a move called the forward somersault. He rolls forward and lands on two hands and one leg.
Citron
Wooow you know your stuff. Are you sure you’re not secretly a Kabuki enthusiast?
Hisoka
...... I just watched a video.
Citron
So how do I do it?
Hisoka
...... First, try and do a normal somersault.
Izumi
Is it really that easy?
Citron
OK!
Izumi
Can you really do it?!
Citron
HAH!
Izumi
You did it!
Hisoka
.... Not quite.
Izumi
It did look a little different from what you did..
(B-But will Citron still be able to do it?)
Citron
— HAH!
Izumi
Oh! Yes, like that!
(Even though Hisoka is helping to support him, I think Citron has made quite amazing progress in such a short amount of time!)
Hisoka
..... Honestly, you’re reflexes were already quite good, but because you weren’t afraid to push yourself you’ve improved quite fast.
Citron
I think I can muster it with just a bit more practice.
Izumi
Yea, you’ll master it.
Hisoka
Don’t overdo it. Your legs are starting to get tired.
Citron
Now that you say that, my legs are feeling a bit heavy. I think I wanna try just one more time—
Izumi
No. That’s enough for today.
Citron
Oh, director is such a worry fart.
Izumi
By that I think you mean worrywart!
Citron
Goood evening yoo. We’re gonna have dance practice today again, let’s get this bread.
Azuma
Looking forward to it too.
Citron
.....
Azuma
Yes, you’re already better than we were the other day.
Citron
You think so? I think you can teach me more!
Azuma
But I told you everything I knew already, right? The former crown prince’s dancing is already so graceful and elegant, I do not think there is anything someone like me could teacher you.
Citron
With a compliment like that, I feel a bit more confident.
Azuma
.....
Citron
?
Azuma
My prince, come here for a moment.
Homare
“Hmm, what wonderful form. Alrighty, how about you show me what you know.”
Citron
“Okay!”
Izumi
(We are working on adding some little details here and there today.. But honestly, just watching Citron’s perfect routine with the shamisen and somersaults really has me at a loss for words.)
The fact that you were able to master these moves in such a short amount of time is truly impressive, Citron.
Sakuya
It’s because he practiced a lot by himself.
Azuma
The other day he got a blood blister on his hand and some bruises at Buyo practice. It looked pretty bad so I put some cream on the wounds.
Hisoka
But didn’t we say we weren’t going to practice alone because it’s too dangerous?
Sakuya
What?
Azuma
Even a prince should know his own limits.
.. In order to prevent burnout you should take breaks.
Sakuya
Even if you’re up late, you should make sure to sleep properly.
Azuma
I have no doubts he’s been working hard his whole life, but he must know when to take a break.
Hisoka
..... We will watch over Citron so please don’t worry, director.
Izumi
Alright, thank you.
(Citron is really serious about this performance. I can tell he is working hard to be able to share his feelings with the people of Zahra.)
..... Hm? Citronia, are those traditional Japanese crafts? I see you have quite a collection, you have Temari balls, Furoshiki, and even Chiyogami.
Citron
These are all things I was fascinated by when I was still living in Zahra. I finally got the chance to get my hands on them!
<< Similar to how I felt about Kabuki, I just looove all the traditional Japanese things. >>
Guy
<< I see. I agree, they are quite beautiful. >>
Citron
<< Yeah, righttt?
Back in the day when you or the other servants weren’t looking, I would sneak off and do some independent Japan research hehehe..
Being able to finally get to experience all of this with my own eyes makes me soooo happy. >>
Guy
<< Me too. Although I still hadn’t regained my memories when we were still living in Zahra together. Now with my memories back, I can truly appreciate how lovely traditional Japanese arts are. I share your joy. >>
Citron
<< Yeah... And it makes me even happier that we can both enjoy these things together.
Let’s show the people of Zahra all the wonderful things we love about Japan... Together. >>

Epilogue “The Story of the Old Man Who Made Withered Trees to Blossom”
Azami
Our Zahra performance made the online news.
Chikage
This is the first time I’ve seen a general news site write about our performance. Usually we only make the theatre news.
Itaru
All according to the keikaku (keikaku means plan).
Izumi
Our play and the finale went over smoothly and became a huge success. I am so glad!
Tsumugi
Even without our subtitle device it seemed like the audience had a lot of fun.
Homare
Art transcends all spoken language!
Guy
We have prepared snacks for everyone.
Citron
Wooooott, let’s get this party started!
Chikage
Huh? Is this all the alcohol we have?
Tasuku
This won’t be enough.
Izumi
That’s true, a lot of members from spring and winter troupes drink.
Itaru
We should call for reinforcements.
Citron
Oh, well if that’s the case—
Tangerine
Hello everyone, great job on your performance yo! It was so amazing, the people of Zahra were so happy.
I have some celery bait curry from the king.
Izumi
DID YOU SAY CURRY!?
Itaru
Um I don’t think the words he is saying mean what he thinks they mean, this isn’t curry.
Tsuzuru
I am not sure what celery bait curry is but it is definitely not that.
Masumi
Celebratory, right?
Citron
And also we have the king’s special secret brand of sake.
Izumi
That’s not curry..
Itaru
Special secret brand? Wow we pulled an SSR here.
Homare
Looking forward to trying it!
Tsumugi
We need to drink it slowly to savour the taste.
Azuma
I am not sure if Sakyo will.
Tangerine
And for the people who don’t drink, we have some freshly squeezed fruit juice.
Sakuya
Wow, it looks good!
Azami
It’s full of fruit.
Yuki
Oh, I gotta send the others a pic of this.
Izumi
So then, let’s dig in!
Citron
Oh, make sure you don’t drink too much!
Izumi
But we have off tomorrow, what’s the problem?
Citron
There is a place I want to take you guys to.
Izumi
A place you want to take us to?
Azuma
Fufu, and we also need to buy some souvenirs.
Izumi
Yeah, okay. So then, cheers to drinking modestly!
Sakuya
Cheers!
Tangerine
<< So then, I guess I will take my leave.. >>
Citron
<< Wait a moment.
I have a message I would like you to give to Orange and Navel. >>
Izumi
Wowww, this is amazing. They even have different colours of lamps.
Yuki
I want to buy everything just looking at it all.
Tsumugi
We won’t have trouble finding any souvenirs here.
Sakuya
They have different colours for other things aside from the lamps.
Hisoka
.... I will get this.
Chikage
No surprise this guy could spot a delicious snack from a hundred metres away.
Masumi
The spices are over here.
Izumi
Woooww this is a treasure trove of goodies!
Homare
The stall over here sells antiques. Ohh everything here is truly a work of art.
Tasuku
What is this soft thing over here? I don’t recognise it at all.
Shopkeeper
<< You sir over there, would you like to check out some hair accessories? >>
Azuma
Hair accessories?
.. Hmm, maybe I should buy a little keepsake for myself. They all look so beautiful, I don’t know which one to get.
Citron
Ohh a jewelry shop?
Azuma
I don’t know which one to get. Could I ask for your input, my prince?
Citron
Mumumu.. Hmmm the one that would suit you the best is.. THIS ONE!
Azuma
Fufu, you have quite an eye for beauty, my prince. They have this one in different colours too. All the variations are so beautiful, I don’t know which to get.
Citron
I think this one would suit your brother.
Azuma
Huh?
.. But my brother doesn’t have long hair. I don’t think—
Citron
Maybe his hair got longer since you last saw him!
Azuma
Long hair..
Fufu, I think it would suit him.
(I can’t even begin to imagine where my brother could be living now. I have things I want to tell him, but for some reason I can’t even picture what he could look like now.)
.. Thank you. I will buy one for my brother too.
Citron
I am sure he’ll be happy.
Shopkeeper
<< Thanks! >>
Citron
— Oh, it’s almost time.
Citron
<< Sorry we were late. >>
Orange
<< So why did you ask us to come here? >>
Navel
<< A-Are you going to publicly shame us? >>
Tangerine
<< No no, we would never do anything like that. >>
Citron
<< We have clear skies today so why don’t we all look up and admire the colour. >>
Orange
<< .. The sky? >>
Citron
<< It’s The Story of the Old Man Who Made Withered Trees to Blossom! Look! >>
Navel
!?
Orange
<< S-Sakura? Ahh, no it’s just pink balloons? >>
Citron
<< I hope you will see real sakura blossoms one day. You are always welcome to visit me in Japan. >>
Orange
<< .. W-We look forward to it. >>
Azuma
Hanasaka Jii-san project, big success.
Sakuya
I heard Hanasaka Jii-san, wow that brings me back.
Tsuzuru
I am sure we all remember reading it when we were children.
Izumi
(Huh? Why do I feel like I have heard the name ‘Hanasaka Jii-san’ before.. ?
Oh, wait, that’s right. It’s the pseudonym of the producer who wrote for one of my father’s act offs.)
Citron
Soo then, everyone make a wish!
Sakuya
Oh, that’s right! Hmm I wonder what I should wish for? I hadn’t thought of anything!
Chikage
We gotta be quick before the balloons disappear.
Itaru
SSR.. SSR..
Tsuzuru
That’s too superficial.
Hisoka
Marshmallows, marshmallows..
Tasuku
To nobody’s surprise.
Izumi
(What a beautiful blue sky.. I wonder if my father is under this same sky making the flowers bloom too.
I promise, one day, we will surely meet again father.)
