Airplane / Helicopter Crash

A military helicopter flew into the path of a descending commercial airplane just outside of DC. The helicopter had three people on it; the plane had 64. So far just 4 injured people have been recovered.

This is wholly Trump's fault. Here's the sequence of events:

Trump illegally stopped hiring new air traffic controllers when they were already stretched thin. (Source)

Musk successfully pushed the head of the FAA to resign. (Source)

Trump fired all members of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, which is in charge of investigating safety issues at airports. (Source)

Trump puts a drunkard Fox News host — with white nationalist ties but minimal managerial experience — in charge of the military bureaucracy. (Source)

Tonight, a military helicopter flew somewhere it shouldn't have and our air safety systems — the ones that keep us safe, the ones that Trump have been tearing down — failed to notice or protect the passengers on the plane. Not good!

not tryna get political on a random sideblog i made for fun, but even though i am generally tolerant of people with differing beliefs than mine, anyone who sees trump blaming the american airlines crash on dei and thinks that’s okay should go jump off a bridge expeditiously :) their bodies hadn’t even been fished out of the goddamn potomac before he said that shit. it is unbelievably disrespectful to the dead. people need to remember that, in times like these, a tragedy is a tragedy. regardless of political affiliation, these people are dead. there are grieving families out there. people who have lost children, parents, siblings, husbands, wives, and friends.

my heart hurts for spencer and jinna and their parents and everyone else who was on that plane. i will forever miss and be thankful for vadim and genia. it hurts that they’re gone. i still can’t believe it.

At some level, I accepted that the U.S. airline industry's unprecedented streak of having every scheduled takeoff conclude with the plane landing in one piece would eventually end. I just didn't think it would end a few miles from my house, outside the airport I've probably flown in and out of more than any other in the world.

Doing anything with a 100 percent success rate is hard, and maintaining that perfect record for almost 16 years in a row is exponentially harder.
