A neat thing about 3-5 is it is the first case in the entire series where absolutely no witnesses are involved in the murder. Up to that point (and after for that matter), the culprit and accomplices being among the people who testify feels like an inherent part of the formula.
Instead, the "culprits", or more accurately, "people in the know" only ever occupy the roles of prosecutor, defendant, and victim. A prosecutor and a defendant were previously culprits, but someone also involved also testified within the case (Yogi & de killer). These cases were also both the finale cases of their given games (1-5 not withstanding).
It's such an interesting subversion of the formula and it fits the grand trilogy finale really well.
