Happy Arab American Heritage month!!

I just learned that this is a thing today! Incase you didnt know Im Palestinian and Jordanian🇵🇸🇯🇴! My actual name means beauty and grace in arabic and Im proud of my heritage 😌

Id also like to say that as an arab who lives in america Ive experienced lots of xenophobia and have been told insults due to being arab. I know lots of arabs get dismissed when they speak about the xenophobia they face because its so normalized. Since I was a kid I who grew up speaking arabic along with english I got to see how people treated me differently. Ive been asked if I had bombs with me, been seen as automatically aggresive for just existing, called a multitude of slurs and it goes on whether that be boys calling me a terrorist in middle school or students calling me scary/aggressive for speaking in arabic. And the subtle “oh youre not like those types of arab” that ive heard. I say these things to bring some light to some of the aggressions arabs face almost all the time in america. I still get worried some days that I will be targeted just for being arab or wearing my cultural clothing. So help me this month bring some light to arabs!
