writing outsider POV on the doctor and rose is…something. now, I love the softness and the tragedy and the messiness of it all as much as anyone who got their heart ripped out by doomsday, but it’s like-

she’s nineteen in s1. there’s leeway in how much time passes between then and doomsday and stolen earth- depending on how you headcanon how much travel time took place ‘off screen’ before doomsday and how time might move differently in pete’s world. but if you go with the loose canon that the year the episodes air irl is the in-universe year for the characters, 2008 for stolen earth. she was twenty two.

temporarily back on my doctor who bullshit and thinking about the dynamic of Jenny and the Doctor and chewing on the drywall over it. he keeps leaving her behind so she'll be safe--he sends her away so she doesn't have to see the worst parts of him--and she keeps coming back. he's the template for her. he's all she's ever known. and much like any child, eventually, Jenny is going have that illusion of her parent broken down so she can see him more for what he is. eventually, she's going to have to fly the nest and stand on her own two feet.
