Not only had Maester Ebbert brought some much needed excitement to Timberwatch, he'd also brought EDIE DEGORE. The woman knew him from childhood --- this was the extent of Aaren's knowledge. Childhood was something Ebbert only spoke of briefly, and the Greyson quickly learned not to bother him with questions regarding it. So a lady from the maester's past was quick to garner Aaren's attentions. Apparently she’d been the Forrester's master-at-arms ( imagine! a woman doing such a thing! ) and lived through the siege that had Ironrath still smoldering. She came for visits, sometimes to chat, sometimes to get patched up by Ebbert's expert hand. Aaren, usually one to bother and interrupt, chose not to disturb them too often. What if she was some past love of his? The thought caused him to sulk --- an action quite out of character. Edie sat with him now as they waited for Ebbert to return, having left to collect something from his room. He had many questions he wanted to ask her --- all of them blunt, the sort of questions Oriele would ask. It would shame him to be as rude as his twin, but no longer could he keep such inquiries inside.
"You must've been saddened when Ebbert decided to become a maester." Aaren shifted in his seat, uncomfortable. His question hid beneath layers of innocent conversation. Would she catch onto him? "I imagine you two would've been WED if he stayed at Highpoint.”
