One of my favorite Australian acts of late are Ausmuteants.  Jake Robertson from that band helped form Hierophants in 2010.  They hail from one of my favorite-named Australian cities - Geelong.  I got one of their early 7″s several years ago when I placed a big order with Birds Love Fighting.

If you know the music of Ausmuteants, you have a good idea of the sound of Hierophants.  This is angular post-punk in the vein of Devo and maybe some Magazine.  Hierophants don’t have as much synth.

Ausmuteants - Amusements

Ausmuteants are four twenty-nothings from Geelong, Victoria raised on a diet of seminal avant punk like Chrome, the Screamers, and let’s not mention Devo. As a two-piece, Jake (synth, guitar) and Billy (drums) flushed that obsession with the release of the Split Personalities tape/CD in 2012.

They've since added Marc and Shaun on bass and guitar respectively and worked '60s songwriting ideas, disco rhythms and a subtler brand of theft into finely crafted pop songs. In 2013 they hit the studio and recorded twenty-two tracks; the best twelve became Amusements.

Working in partnership with our pals at Aarght in Melbourne, Goner Records is proud to bring Amusements stateside for a proper US release.

30 Day (non-consecutive) Neoart Challenge Day 2: Shenkuu

Given that it's AC season and all, this prompt made me think of the Shenkuu team immediately and after checking them out, it was obvious which member I should draw. (Gnorbu? Gnorbu.) I'm not particularly fond of the anthro style a lot of official art is in, so I had a nice time deanthropomorphising Mirsha.

ages ago now I made some gnorbu pixel backgrounds but I only just realised that despite doing a bunch of colours with alternate manes/markings/etc, I never actually did most of the regular palette-swap colours. naturally, I whipped up this bunch to fill out the set a little. all the colours I've done previously can be seen here.

30 Day (non-consecutive) Neoart Challenge Day 1: First Neopet

I know I made pets prior to this, but they were all when I was a wee squidget and couldn't convince my parents that sending a letter to america was worth it so I could have a better time on a website. I had four pets on my first proper account, all of which I created myself around the same time, but looking them up now my Kougra was the oldest by a few days so that's the one I drew. He started off blue then was painted ghost after I got a pb as an plot prize. I pounded him at some point and apparently he's now a mutant peophin. Fancy that.
