On May 11, 2019, the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) will be hosting its first Annual AARLCC-CON: Comic & Sci-Fi Convention AARLCC-CON will provide a platform for African-American writers and illustrators of comic books and Sci-Fi novels to share ideas, present their latest works, and develop relationships with both local and national industry professionals. The AARLCC is a 60,000 square foot facility that features a 300-seat auditorium. We are a branch of the Broward County Libraries Division, the ninth largest library system in the nation. As one of three counties that comprise the Miami metropolitan area, Broward County – which boasts a population of over 1.8 million – is second only to Miami-Dade in population, and enjoys a diverse ethnic mix of residents. Rickey Smiley, Kimberla Lawson Roby, Tavis Smiley, Taye Diggs, and Sunny Anderson are some of the featured authors of past festivals.
