Levi walks up to a well-worn auto repair shop that his dad had owned as long as he had been alive. He remembered fondly when his dad would take him to work as a child. While his mother worried about what he could get into, the shop had a feeling of warmth and security for him in the way her cold office never did. After she died and Levi moved out, his dad had moved into the tiny back room. It had been a while since he had been back, but he felt a bit less restless stepping into the yard.
Levi: Hi, Dad.
Aaron: Hey, Bud. I was wondering when you were going to show up?
Levi: How’d you know I was back?
Aaron: I saw Atlas at the grocery store a few days ago. I knew you’d stop by at some point.
Levi: I’m sorry, I got in last week. I had a few things to sort out.
Aaron: It’s okay. It’s hot, let’s go inside.

Lot: Saul’s Repairs by @catsaar
Aaron: Come visit me sooner. I don’t want to have to find out where you’re at next by a chance meeting with your boyfriend.
Levi: I will, Dad.
Aaron: Your grandparents will find out you’re back soon. It’ll be easier for all of you if you just tell them yourself.
Levi: Please don’t tell them I’m back yet. I will reach out to them whenever I’m good and ready-- which might be never if they don’t stop treating me like something they already own.
Levi: … so the campaign was done, my *DSS candidate won, and I was feeling a bit homesick. I was also feeling a bit tired of San Myshuno. I needed to get out. I figured why not come back and visit while I have a few months off until the next season kicks off.
Aaron: I’m sure having Atlas here is also a big incentive to stop here.
Levi: Yes, to stop here. But I don’t know if I want to stay here.
Aaron: Levi, you are an adult. You can do whatever you want. You shouldn’t let your grandparents run you out of town.
Levi: They don’t run me out of town… I just prefer to not be where they are at. Every time I speak to them, they make me feel guilty all the time for not “running the family business”, as if it’s a small little mom and pop shop and not a giant megacorporation. What about me and how I feel, their grandson?
Aaron: You know I feel the same way as you do. But maybe if you’d meet them halfway and not run away every time you see them, they’d have a chance to understand you. They still haven’t gotten over the loss of your mother. She was supposed to take over and they want to give it all to you. The way they see it, they mean well and are trying to help you.
Levi: Easy for you to say, they leave you alone to do what you want to do.
Aaron: Well, what do you want to do? Other than not work for Adelante Industries?.
Levi: I just want to be happy.
Aaron: Well, then be happy.

Alanna Royale – “So Bad You Can Taste It” Soul Step Records REVIEW
Here at 50Thirdand3rd (and everywhere else), I never pass up the opportunity to talk about my affinity for rock n’ roll. It’s what got me the gig! I play guitar, been on stages across the country, studios, you name it. But what you may not know is my favorite genre is R&B. Not so much modern R&B (more on that later) but the honest-to-goodness Stax Records, Mowtown R&B. The stuff with heartbreak,…
