Welp this is all I got for now in my AU. Might as well explain what it is as this is taking way too long than i thought it would and because Hispanic Heritage Month is almost over (honestly even when it is over I feel like I’m still drawing them like this as this is my new hyperfixation so far).
The Amazing Grupo Folklorico AU
(Still not sure about the name yet but this’ll do)
I’ll yap a lil but this came from inspiration from seeing other tadc aus like the ice skating, ballet, and other dance aus. And I thought why not an au of folklorico dancers?
Finished drawings coming soon i swear I just got too much going on rn 😭
Basically I mainly wanted to create this is have a latino AU of the characters as a dance group where they do traditional dances from different Mexican states. I also just wanted an excuse to draw them in danza costume as I love folklorico wear. I also wanted to draw them in different dances and costumes with the alt text explaining the dances symbolism and story behind the dance, like a small educational lesson as most people are only familiar with the most common dance the Jalisco (even tho i planned to have them in Jalisco wear in this character sheet but not the point). And not just them having the dance performances in the AU but also having the back stage moments of them just having fun together as people who practically grew up together to dance except for Pomni who’s new to the group when she just moved in or wtv idk. Bruh i even planned what their families are gonna be like too damnit but I DONT HAVE THE FUCKING TIME OR PATIENCE TO DO ALL OF IT!! Anyways PLEASE BE PATIENT!! Eventually it’ll all come to together someday.
Happy Cedfia Week 2025!
Day 2: Localized
For today, I wanted to focus more on my Mexican culture. I drew Sofia and Cedric in Mariachi/Folklorico inspired* garb. This piece was really fun to do and I was so excited to draw them in clothes out of the ordinary for them, while also implementing their colors to make it feel like it would be something they could wear in canon. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!
*Note: Sofia's dress is inspired by traditional folklorico dresses with the big, puffy shoulders and long sleeves. However, I didn't add the flowy fabric usually on the bodice. Going back I would like to probably add it later. But this is the current version of it. These dresses also differ per state but that's why this is simply inspired rather than a direct influence.
