Premier League Transfer Rumours: Matuidi, Sigurdsson, Pelle, Bolasie and More
Which Premier League club has suddenly been linked with Blaise Matudi? Will one of Iceland’s Euro 2016 heroes be making the move to England? Where might Graziano Pelle be heading this summer? And who could be landing Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie by the end of the week?
Learn the answers to these questions and more in today’s roundup of Premier League transfer rumours
10. Juan Camilo Zuniga
After a busy few days at the start of the transfer window, Watford appear to be close to sealing yet another acquisition in the shape of Juan Camilo Zuniga.
The Colombian wing-back, who worked with new Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri at Napoli, was first linked with a move to Watford several weeks ago. Now, according to the Watford Observer, a deal is close and a fee of €1m or less may be all it takes.
9. Aaron Tshibola
According to TeamTalk, Aston Villa have made a £5m offer for Reading midfielder Aaron Tshibola, but the likes of Crystal Palace, Norwich and Celtic remain interested in the 21-year-old former England junior international.
Tshibola has only played sparingly for the Royals in his career to date, although he did make the breakthrough into the first-team last season.
8. Diego Alves
Despite the existing capture of Maarten Stekelenburg, Everton are now being linked with a a move for Valencia stopper Diego Alves, which could well see Joel Robles shown the door completely rather than simply being bumped down the pecking order.
According to Deporte Valenciano, new boss Ronald Koeman still wants another goalkeeper. There’s a chance that could be Alves, with the Brazilian out of favour at the Mestalla.
Meanwhile, Stoke’s interest in reported Toffees target Nani has been confirmed by Potters assistant manager Mark Bowen.
7. Yannick Bolasie
According to the ‘Insider’ column on West Ham’s own official website, the club is in line to confirm a ‘major new signing’ by the end of the week. No detail as to who is given, but the club remains heavily linked with Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Hammers could hold an advantage in that particular chase, especially as the player’s preference seems to be to stay in the London area.
As far as potential departures are concerned, Cheikhou Kouyate has urged Diafra Sakho to stay at the club – the striker has been heavily linked with an £11m move to Sunderland.
6. Geronimo Rulli
Rumours in recent weeks and months had suggested that new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola would chase either Claudio Bravo or Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to compete with, or even replace, Joe Hart. But it’s another lesser known Spanish based goalkeeper who may be heading to the Etihad instead.
The Daily Express cites a Spanish source to suggest that City are closing in on £7.5m rated Real Sociedad stopper Geronimo Rulli. The 24-year-old Argentine has only just joined the La Liga club permanently from Deportivo Maldonado in Uruguay after a two-year loan.
Another story about John Stones from the Daily Mail also claims that City are still keen on the young Everton defender, although it may take an offer of £50m to get him.
5. Vincent Janssen
It’s taken several weeks of negotiating and a few pleas from the player himself, but Tottenham finally look all set to tie up a deal for 2015/16 Eredivisie top scorer Vincent Janssen by the end of the week.
According to the Daily Mirror, a £16m deal is ready for completion in the coming days. Janssen had offers from both Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham but it appears that Spurs were the only club he wanted to join.
4. Graziano Pelle
According to the Daily Telegraph, new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is considering a summer approach for Southampton striker Graziano Pelle. The pair have worked together with the Italian national team since 2014 when Conte handed the forward a debut.
Pelle is not expected to be offered a new contract at Southampton – his current deal expires in 2017 – but there could be competition from Everton where Ronald Koeman is setting up.
However, it remains to be seen how any such move could be affected by the revelation, also reported by the Daily Telegraph, that Diego Costa has agreed to stay at the club following several months of uncertainty surrounding his future.
3. Ragnar Sigurdsson
Reported Liverpool target Ragnar Sigurdsson has spoken of the possibility of a move this summer after he and his Iceland team-mates shocked the world to reach the quarter finals of Euro 2016.
“I think a lot of this team will get a transfer,” the 30-year-old Krasnodar centre-back is quoted as saying by the Daily Express. “I have spoken with my agent and we will know more after the Euros.”
Sigurdsson, a Liverpool fan, has also been linked with Tottenham and Leicester, both of whom were recently rumoured to have already sounded out the player’s agent.
2. Alvaro Morata
Following Chelsea’s expensive capture of Michy Batshuayi, it appears the only options for Alvaro Morata now are to remain at Real Madrid or go to Arsenal if he is to be sold on. And it seems that financial incentive may be the best hope the Gunners have.
According to AS, Arsenal have offered the developing striker £7.5m per year in wages to make the switch to north London. He wouldn’t make as much as that should be stay in Madrid, although he is believed to be pushing for a pay rise on what the €4m he was pocketing each year at Juventus. Elsewhere, the Gunners are thought to be in talks with Neven Subotic. The player confirmed his plans to leave Borussia Dortmund last month.
1. Blaise Matuidi
There is suddenly a lot of excitement that Manchester United could soon be signing Paris Saint-Germain midfield dynamo Blaise Matuidi after information coming from France.
According to Goal‘s French site, Matuidi was given special permission to leave the national team base on Monday morning to travel to England. The purpose of the trip was for the player’s future, and although no particular club has been specified, the 29-year-old fits the brief of a central midfielder wanted by United. What’s more, he’s represented by Mino Raiola.
He has been a regular for PSG ever since signing from Saint-Etienne in 2011, but his place at the Parce des Princes is set to come under threat following the arrival of Grzegorz Krychowiak. In other United news, Jose Mourinho has allegedly told friends to expect the arrival of Paul Pogba at Old Trafford this summer in a deal worth in excess of £80m.
